You said it's easy to 'steal prompts' on midjourney. It's not stealing prompts, they're intentionally available for others to use. It's like saying that eating food samples at Costco is stealing food. I think it's a hard argument to say that prompts are intellectual property, when in reality the AI has stolen styles from every artist in the world.
@Myspacemeta
@Myspacemeta Жыл бұрын
Yeah. Seems to be missing the mark here wanting exclusivity on "stolen" work. When you didn't have any hand designing the tool, or the original artwork. I don't think you should be able to copyright prompts anymore than you should be able to copyright a google search 🤷‍♂
@neepers
@neepers Жыл бұрын
@@Myspacemeta exactly what I'm thinking, and great analogy. That there is this notion of 'stolen' rests on a presupposition that their is ownership, and there is no ownership--it's just an example of possessiveness. The irony here is that what is trying to be possessed is actually owned by the styles that have been assimilated by the AI bot, which means that it's coming from other artists who made the original work.

Nobody own the prompts the only reason people are buying from this website is they don't know the prompt ,if the prompt was available you don't need anyone's permission to use it

Now the reason I would buy prompts is simply...I work long hours and only have a little time on the weekends.I need to be able to quickly create what I need.Having something to get me going immediately, helps. But I clearly understand the excellent points you gentleman are making👍

Interesting prospect. Thank you for sharing. I would really wonder how close image to text would get to the original prompt if given the demo images. If it can fairly closely replicate the results, this would quickly become irrelevant.

I think if the output were identical every single time, then you could perhaps copyright a prompt. Say, you could copyright a prompt with a seed, if the image were identical. But, if the output is different every time, one would be hard pressed to copyright something like that. Besides, you cannot copyright a sentence, only a body of work like a book, or poem, or song. You can Trademark a phrase, but I doubt you could Trademark a prompt.
@aisamsonreal
@aisamsonreal Жыл бұрын
This is some great insight. I'm curious, at what length does a phrase become a "body of work" A haiku is a poem and no longer than many prompts. I suppose the ethical question is, what is to stop people buying prompts and reselling them as is. Thanks for sharing Aaron
@aaronhhill
@aaronhhill Жыл бұрын
@@aisamsonreal I believe this all boils down to the difference between the specific and the general. I cannot copyright my grocery list, arguably longer than a Haiku, but that is because one cannot copyright a formula, recipe or list. General information cannot be copyrighted in that manner. However, let's say I take a picture of the items I just purchased from the grocery store. I can copyright that because it is a specific image arranged in a specific way in a specific setting. The answer then becomes based on whether or not a seed can produce the exact same image across multiple AI engines every single time without deviation. If it can, then the prompt moves from the general to the specific and can be copyrighted as intellectual property. Currently there is nothing stopping a person from buying a set of prompts and turning around and selling those same prompts on the same platform, and even for a greater or lesser amount of money. I mean, except for ethics...

I haven't tested Dall-E, maybe because I'm on waiting the list and they didn't give a f... damn about me. So I tried Stable Diffusion and Midjourney. I prefer Stable Diffusion (the local version. Their public version in their Dream Studio is terrible and limited) for any result I had. In the new version of Stable Diffusion, you can extract a prompt and seed from an image. It's not perfect, but they're improving it.

More profitable than prompt selling I feel Like is just selling your oringal a.i. artwork in your unique style at a good price. I follow guys who do traditional graphic designs for clothing who post 3 times a day and always sell out and their designs are about $65-$75.. Now imagine posting 3 images you created with a.I. and selling them for $75-150 or more depending on who you are and how you build up your art page ❤️‍🔥

Especially when they drop new pins. They sell out instantly! It's crazy what these artists are doing. And much of the work is actually copyrighted, they're just doing a mashup or composite work, which still violates copyright laws. I don't know how they get away with some of it.

@@aaronhhill I know what your talking about... Yeah eveyone "new" in the hat space is pumping out marvel/yugioh pins like there's no tommorow but they forget they're only making pins and that's thinking too small.... In general though majority of people violate copyright and use the image and likeness of others, literally %90 of stuff being made and it won't be stopped cuz it's too many people on Instagram to go after. I'm just simply saying if you know you have dope scenery or imagery and you do mock ups on clothes cuz people are to lazy to think for themselves, now people will get to thinking how YOUR imagery will look good for their clothing brand once they see it mocked up on a hoodie, shirt etc.

How long are these prompts viable for. As soon as the model changes, the prompt will produce different results. Really, I hope the idea of prompt-engineering disappears soon as we get tools to tweak and refine results rather than searching for this mythical, magical spell that produces the perfect image.

what would have been cool, is if you had explained what a prompt is, what it looks like and how to sell it. I didn't hear any of that here for newbies who don't know what you're saying when you use the word "prompt" over and over.
@FilmFactry

It is also a funny argument, that the minor text PROMPT that creates an image is STEALING, or OWNED my the creator, But the Billions of actual artwork/photography the model "scraped" isn't stealing. It has concerned me recently as I sometimes see remnants of artist signatures, or stock photo site watermarks in my generations. There is a whole ETHICS of AI that hasn't even been touched yet. Maybe not as much as a free SD generator, But if MJ or Dall-e 2 one day is bringing in billions of dollars, there is no sharing of that with the people who created the source of the model??
@flickwtchr
@flickwtchr Жыл бұрын
This is the reason I've chosen to not include styles of artists generally, and specifically not contemporary artists as style prompts, because MJ is scary good at reproducing a specific style. It is not at all comparable to artists producing derivative works from inspiration of other artists. It's not even close to being directly comparable in my opinion.
@FilmFactry
@FilmFactry Жыл бұрын
@@flickwtchr There is something new in Stable Diffusion which allows you to create your own mini model, by processing a series of images. This allows you to include Artist/styles not represented in MJ currently. Its called Textual Inversion.

where I think it'll disrupt the market is Fiver, and graphic design for shirts. While before each work required tons of hands on time, editing etc--now one can make awesome and bizarre t-shirts with a single button click. Graphic artists are about to become a lot less valuable.
