Thank you so much for your simple explanation of covered calls. I've heard it so many times and didn't fully understand it. I guess the nuance is learning how far out to sell the calls for, and choosing stocks you don't mind letting go.

You're very welcome! And yes, that is definitely a nuance. But one to not overthink dramatically, because as long as you make profit and you get liquidity from the gains of selling your positions, that’s ultimately the goal right? :) You’ll notice, if you did the trade on Coinbase or Airbnb, that I outlined in the video, you would be a very nice profit right now !!

That made alot of sense and i appreciate the simple way to break it down.. What about stock custodian fees, options commissions, triggering a cap gains tx event at higher bracket if selling shares under 12 months when not using cfds and tax on options premiums. Im not asking for specific tax advice but doesnt these factors come into play as well ?

Never avoid a dream because of tax implications. ;-) But long story short, but if you do these strategies in a retirement account? Like an IRA? You don’t have to pay any capital gains taxes …. :) If it is in a regular account, then you will likely have to pay short term Cap gains

Hi Sifu, you keep talking about the price going up.. pls explain what happens when the stock price goes down And we already have an options contract for 2weeks.

I do talk about that. At the end of the video , I mention as COIN goes down, (aka - the stock goes down) in value the option value goes lower as well. (Which is what you want in a covered call). The covered call adds zero Additional risk to your position. Make sure you are buying good companies , with good fundamentals, in uptrends… and you will win much more over time 😊

Does this mean that we cant lose? bcos when the stock price falls we are covered by the contract and IF price rises we gain if we wish to sell or it hits the Covered contract price? Is this correct?

Getting closer Jake! Re-watch the video 1-2 more times and then go in and do some paper trading. Generally, you will never make more than 1-2% on a covered call. So that money isn't "protecting" your downside. There is a strategy that CAN, called the collar. I talk about that. in this video= kzfaq.info/get/bejne/etVmbJidy9Cch6M.html if we wish to sell or it hits the Covered contract price? "This portion of your quesstion, the stock does have to close above the sold call strike AT expiration. IF that occurs, you will be selling your shares and you will keep your rental premium, that is correct.
