Wow. I know I don’t get my diagonal seam tape straight. This is great. I’ll be using painters tape from now on and drawing the line!! Thanks so much.

If you cut your squares about 1/16” larger than what the chart calls for, your HSTs will be slightly oversized and can then be trimmed to perfection.
@prettysimplesara
@prettysimplesara Ай бұрын
Yup, the chart has two sets of measurements so you can decide to trim or not. 🙂

Nice trick DEPENDS ON SEWING TABLE GOING TO THE FLAT OF THE MACHINE.

Yes-depends on how big your square is whether it fits on the sewing machine table.

HST's take wayyyy too long to make. The best way to make them, and I have tried ALL the ways, is with a program called *"Triangulations"*, which empowers you to print your own HST grid papers on your home computer. You sew up many multiples at once, they are fast, dead accurate, easy. The program is available from Bear Paw Productions.

Are those large flat desk-like surfaces that extend out from your sewing machine manufacturer-specific or can I buy any kind? What are they called?
@prettysimplesara
@prettysimplesara 20 күн бұрын
They are machine specific so they fit up close to your machine. Sometimes manufacturers make them, but SewSteady.com makes them for all kinds of machines (you specify your brand and model) and have been around a long time. 🙂

Use a washable Crayola marker to draw lines. It doesn't cause any drag on the fabric. 1/4" seam tape is much cheaper and way more accurate than painters tape 🤦‍♀️
@prettysimplesara
@prettysimplesara Ай бұрын
Do you mean the tape with all the lines? I don’t understand how those line are more accurate than drawing a line?
@winnepeterson6570
@winnepeterson6570 Ай бұрын
@@hugg724 I’ve tried the 1/4” tape and found the painter’s tape method to be far quicker, easier, and more accurate. Very inexpensive too. To each his own, I guess! Whatever works. 🙂
@tabandken8562
@tabandken8562 Ай бұрын
What are you talking about? Masking tape is $1 and it's probably already in the house somewhere making it free. And the line tape isn't accurate if you don't have it on perfectly straight.

@janinenankervis9477
@janinenankervis9477 Ай бұрын
Me either because to sew straight keeping your eye on the line as the square feeds through, you have to sew SO SLOWLY it’s defeats the purpose of drawing the line. I just make my squares slightly bigger then square them up, or more often, use the make 4 or 8 at a time
@prettysimplesara
@prettysimplesara Ай бұрын
It’s really that different for you? Huh! It’s just as fast for me. Have you ever sewn using tape for your edge of fabric for regular seam? Not negating your experience, just trying to understand so I can help others the best. @@janinenankervis9477
