Great video once again! I've got a couple of pointers: - I wouldn't pre-compose all the letters since it creates complexity to the project and you have to create new pre-comps to change the letters. Instead, I'd just type the desired word, create shapes from text and separate them into individual layers. - With the newest update, you don't have to create individual mattes for each letter. You can simply create one and assign that for all of the letters. The layer hierarchy doesn't matter anymore with mattes.

I personally would just create text and then masked each letter seperatly still within one layer (it even can be duplicates of the first mask). After that i would make the number of RepeTile effects the same as the number of masks (depends on how many letters you have) and go to effects in text layers properties and with use of Compositing Options just assign each instance of RepeTile to they own mask. So in the end the each RepeTile would affect only the letter to which it is assigned and since it was assigned with Compositing Optins (mask) theres no need to create any mattes since the mask itself is already working as a matte for effect itself. And all its works within only one text layer which is quite nice.

At the point of changing the track matte to luma the outcome i get is white instead of black
