I've always used "0000" steel wool (with light pressure!) on my windows but could never quite get rid of those water spots. It never occurred to me to use Mother's Mag Polish! I have some, and a small buffer, so I'll definitely give that a go. Along with the Scotch-Brite instead of the steel wool. 👍

Hello Mike, I think I found a mistake or maybe I just don't understand. The PreWash you linked to IS the ceramic coating. IF you use the ceramic coating to prewash, do you use it straight or dilute it with something like Old 99? I watched the video on the ceramic coating web site and did not see any prewash in that video. Thank you for your videos. interesting,, I do high rise windows here in FL,, (primarily Daytona) I'm curious if this is a service I could offer to my clients?.. would it work on high windows?.. Most I do is in direct sunlight though & higher temps,, probably not??

Would this remove/minimise the appearance of wiper scratches on the glass from worn wiper blades? I'd be interested to see the results on an older car with such wear, if possible. Thanks

All you need to do to remove wiper blade scratches is Polish them out with a glass polisher and one of those Milwaukee machines it takes a long time but they do go away

@@SweetProjectCars Thanks Mike! I'll give it some thought the next time I get serious with detailing the '05 Goldwing. I would probably want to coat every surface I could. Last detail I went over the bike with Maguire's Ultimate Fast Finish on as much as possible except the windscreen. I was using Kleenmaster by Brillianize an anti-static cleaner and polish for plastics before just using wax with better, longer results.

@@IDYLBERRY Next time you have a brand new plastic windshield, only ever use Kleenmaster, and leave the thinest layer you can before covering with saran wrap. If you need more than one piece of saran wrap, layer with the upper piece applied first, lower piece overlapping, secure the bottom edge with electrical tape, and trim all other edges with a razor blade . Do the same 5 minute procedure every time you replace the saran wrap and the plastic windshield will never get even a single scratch or any UV clouding. How does this work on the front windshield in the winter with all the salt on the roads. =Does the salt not stick either. Any bizarre visibility or improvements using this on the front windshield. =Less glare from headlights etc.

Great video. Question though. How long should this last? I’ve never used ceramic coating on anything but how far does that small bottle go? Thanks!

2 of those bottles will do a WHOLE (body panels and glass) compact size car no problem, but we suggest getting 3 or 4 bottles for an SUV or Pickup truck. If you take care of it with their care products, you will probably sell the car before you have to worry about it again. See their ceramic care products. The company who makes this guarantees it to last for 2 years. Money back if you have any issues whatsoever in those 2 years. Other KZfaq channels have tested this product and it really does last the 2 years. There is nothing anywhere that says it will last longer, but 2 years for a product an amateur can apply is pretty great!

I use wipers just to appease the law in my state. Not sure what my dads stuff is but I had a 5 gallon pail he made in 1990 and he died a few years after that but this stuff does the same thing. Just didn't prep glass with mother used the lava soap bar and 90% method. No rainX.

Side note it made the old Clear coats look new. Used on old cars then flipped em. But definitely ceramic coatings are easier. I have a bunch of them too just never had energy to detail the vehicles fully for them as they all need paint correction. Especially my Land Rover which got squirreled.

You can continue to use prehistoric products if you so desire, today's products are like nothing else out there. If you don't mind using your RainX every 30 to 60 days, that's fine and dandy, or you can do this once every 5 years and it works 10 times better. Well, if you have nothing but time on your hands, and do not mind chiseling ice off your windshield or bug guts, then get to work my friend. The way we look at it is, time is your most precious asset, if you can spend a couple bucks on your vehicle to save you time and hassle over a 5 year period, we say that's a GREAT investment.
