Today at Booze On The Rocks, we make the Hakuna Matata Cocktail inspired by the 1994 Walt Disney classic, The Lion King. This sunrise-style cocktail is easy to make and tastes of pineapple, coconut, and pomegranate. Try it and let me know what you think.

HAKUNA MATATA
1 oz/30 ml Coconut Rum
1 oz/30 ml Spiced Rum
1 oz/30 ml Creme de Banane
4 oz/120 ml Pineapple Juice
.75 oz/22.5 ml Grenadine
Method
1. Add all of the ingredients except the grenadine to the shaker tin.
2. Shake with ice foe 8-10 seconds.
3. Fill a rocks glass with ice.
4. Pour in the shaken mixture.
5. Garnish withan orange slice.

Fun fact about bananas: The "artificial" banana flavor is actually what bananas used to taste like back before (at least in the US) they started genetically modifying them (I.E. making them seedless, changing the flavors, etc.) for mass consumption.

Thank you for this! My mom and son watched your video with me this morning and demanded I make it. I modified it a little. I used Wray & Nephew with 2 dashes of ango instead of the spiced rum. I also swapped one of the ounces of pineapple juice with lime. Everyone loved it!

I never saw the Lion King... As a stupid child, I said I'm too old for cartoons and that was the first Disney movie I didn't see... I was very upset I was not allowed to see Jurassic Park in theaters, so all cartoons were over for me... This cocktail seems amazing though! Also, my wife married me so I can get things off of the top shelf... I married her to open jars and containers that are stuck on...

Happy Friday David! I really like the flavor profile of Shipwreck. I only have acaccess to dekuyper creme de Banana. What I did to cut the "nuclear banana" flavor is infuse the liqueur with banana chips for a day. That made it a lot more usable. Cheers!

Hi, I'm Brazilian, so I'm using the translator, sorry if you can't understand. Did you use alcohol-free banana cream? Here in Brazil I only find banana liqueur.

A standard Rocks glass is 10 oz/300ml a double rocks glass is 12 oz/360 ml. Its what they call a slightly larger rocks glass.
