I use cuffs on leaning cable laterals and it put all the emphasis on my delts and not my hands when using a handle attachment. Noticeable improvement. Don’t knock it until you try it.

Pro tip: This machine is also spectacular for rear and front delt. I do them all the time, just sit sideways and do one side at the time.

This is my go-to setup but since I train during peak rush hour times it’s not always available. Same goes for the free motion or cable stacks, especially if one side is broken. That’s why I end up using the cable row for Delt raises because I don’t have all day to wait for equipment to open up.

I have to disagree with mike on the cuffs thing for once. In my case I have bad shoulders and for some reason using a handle just hurts like a mf. switching to cuffs, particularly close to my elbow, made it miles better for me now, almost no pain whatsoever, whereas before I couldn even do 1 rep with an empty stack. dumbell raises also hurt but a bit less now that I m implementing mike s take on them

I’ve been doing this set up for a while and it actually works so well. Just my set up is a little different. My question is, is there’s a big difference if you hold your arms upfront instead of the side?

1:33 the planet fitness I went to in Ohio and the one I go to in Oklahoma doesn't have this machine. I honestly wish it did sometimes because too many people are totally screwing up side laterals

Came here to say this. I have limited gym options where I live. It was my first question after I walked around the Planet Fitness gym the first time. "Where's the shoulder / delt machine?". Maybe some girthier patrons we're getting stuck in it.

Leaning Egyptian Cable laterals WORK, Mike. IDK about benches & space footprints, but leaning away from ONE stack & moving the handle BETWEEN your legs hits the medial head from start to finish, no rest. I have to disagree with this first part.
@ironaddictkidd715416 күн бұрын
He is talking about when people tie bands to, for example, a seated cable row station, lay on the bench and use the band for raises. It completely takes up an entire station and a stack of weights. He is talking about people who are doing the leaning Egyptian laterals but they are using a band instead of the cable and taking up the space where someone could be using that stack. He is saying using the band instead of the machine is dumb.
@martinvulu184816 күн бұрын
@@ironaddictkidd7154 I do mine with a dumbbell hanging off one of the lever arms of the Hammer military. I do it as a superset with the presses facing backwards INTO the machine. I find it hits all 3 heads during my pressing. A 10mm band along with a 25# dumbbell is plenty. The muscle is never resting & the accommodating resistance is good to my joints.

That's too complicated, having trouble even seeing that in my head. Jerry rigging a shoulder press machine to do side raises.
@martinvulu184815 күн бұрын
@@jonmorgan1913 it sounds like a lot to set up but really only takes a few extra seconds. Do what you like, just offering a suggestion. I don't like the L arm machines, the weight is to close to the lever (shoulder) IMO.
@ironaddictkidd715415 күн бұрын
@@martinvulu1848 thats great? He isnt saying that the exercise doesnt work your shoulder, hes saying that doing it in a way that takes up too much space and is preventing someone from using equipment is stupid.
