@InteractiveEng
@InteractiveEng 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Eduardo. Thanks for your comment. And that's a great question. You're absolutely right. These are some general guidelines, but there are exceptions. We do say "make the bed," which is more of an action. Mostly, we us "do" with actions (do laundry/do dishes/do chores), so I would consider this an exception. Hope you have a great weekend! 😊

I did the exercise well and i have a question for you if you don't mind ,how do we pronounce "...of money" do we pronounce the "f" as an "f sound " or a "v sound " ? . Like do we say "of money " or "ov money "? I hope you get my question 😊
@InteractiveEng
@InteractiveEng 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. So glad you enjoy our lessons. And that's a great pronunciation question. The preposition "of" is pronounced as /ov/. Sometimes before consonants it may be reduced to the schwa sound /uh/. So people, especially Americans, would say "an amount /ov/ money" or speaking quickly say "an amount /uh/ money." Hope this helps! 😃👍

I came back to English, my first language, because I'm so frustrated with how difficult this is in German. Make and do in German is machen and tun. I'm having so much trouble figuring out how to use them I came here to see how they do it in English. Some things they do in English don't transfer to German, but some do. The problem in German is that I don't know when to use 'machen' and when to use 'tun' bc the rules of German aren't exactly the same as English. Still, our teacher never tells us things like you guys do that ARE the same in both languages. For instance, I didn't know abt verb+noun, adjective+noun, noun+noun. I wish she would've told us that.

Thanks for sharing with us Vicki. I understand what you're going through. I studied German briefly many years ago, but unfortunately I've forgotten much of what I learned. We've considered the possibility of moving there in the future. It's a language I'd love to learn. 😃

How differentiate between MAKE UP and DO Nails or DO hair What about (Make up) it is activity ?
@InteractiveEng
@InteractiveEng 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting Alex. That's a great question. Mostly, we use "make-up" as a noun when talking about putting on cosmetics such as lipstick (to put on make-up). Sometimes we might use it as a phrasal verb and say "make up (someone's) hair," in which case it has the same meaning as "do (someone's) hair." However, I think "to make up one's hair" is not as common. But you would not use "make up" with nails. In this case, you would say "do nails" or "get your nails done." Hope this helps! 😃

Basically, a "mosel" means a very small bite. Usually I think of a mouse eating morsels of food. 👍

What's the difference between make of and make from?
@InteractiveEng
@InteractiveEng 6 жыл бұрын
That's a great question Annie. Generally speaking, we use "made of" if the object has not been changed by much. (The table is made of wood.) We use "made from" if the object has been significantly changed into something else. (Wine is made from grapes.) Hope this helps! 😉
