Hello, big thanks for all your amazing videos! They are very helpful and inspiring. I admire your leather working as well as teaching skills. I am always looking forward to new videos. :) I would like to ask you about bridle leather: When (in which stage of creating a leather item) do you recommend to polish the bloom off and why? When it's the best and does it really matter? Do you do it differently for dog collars and bridlework? And what do you use to polish the bloom - what is the best to use for that purpose (I saw people are using a kind of brush like for grooming the horses for example... :O ) ? Thank you in advance for your advises. Best regards.

I’m so obsessed with your videos! I just ordered tools, total of $300 😆 Is there any video on how to measure a horse correctly? Or what type of horse would this size of a head collar fit? Do you have a picture of a horse wearing it? I’m sorry for so many questions, you will soon start hating me 😂 I’m just so fascinated by the leather craft.

Awesome videos! With the padding, it looks like craft foam, is that correct? I use 3mm for testing patterns.... Glad I can use it for padding too! That's how I found you, searching padding leather. Cheers

Hi George, the foam is called plastazote it seems to be pretty common when you Google it, you can also use neoprene. I use 6mm thick foam with 0.8mm chrome tanned nappa to pad it. You can use thicker leather for padding but you'll need to take into account the extra thickness will make your padding wider (hope that makes sense). Jo

Hello. My name is Giorgi and I live in Georgia. I saw your videos on how to make horse accessories. Thank you. I learned a lot. I have a request for you. Please help me where to buy tools. Indicate the sites, firms where these tools can be purchased. Forgive me I can not speak English and if there were any mistakes, sorry

Heya, I get most of my tools from Abbey England here in the UK, they do international shipping. Also there is Weaver Leather Supply and Osborne tools in the US who I believe do international shipping.

Hi Jo, are headcollars a ‘one size fits all’ or are the individual components adjusted per horse? Thanks again :)
@JHLeather

Heya, generally they'll be pony, cob, full, X full and all parts can be adjusted or you can make them up bespoke 👍

I think so, if you have an existing head collar for your cob I'd check the measurements against that and you will be able to see if its too big and can adjust the sizes accordingly. I get my tools and leather from Abbey England, there is also Metropolitan leather who do some tools and a range of leather hides.

Is it really necessary to have this thickness ?
@JHLeather
@JHLeather 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you think about the strain a horse would be able to put on through the head collar, also it will last a lot longer than ons made with thinner leather.
