Want your video to look like the movies?
www.cinemagrade.com/?el=movies
You've fallen in love with a certain film and yet it seems impossible to know how to match the same look on your video.
The desire is there but not the "know how" in the color grade to match it.
In this how to tutorial I'm going to reveal a method for how to analyze the look of a film and then how to actually recreate it on your own.
There's no need to worry about being able to actually do it yourself or that it is too technical because I guide you through it step-by-step.
So if you want to finally achieve the "movie look" on your film project you can do it!
We will break down the modern classic Children of Men and Triangle of Sadness nominated for best picture in the three major editing softwares.

I think color grading helps a lot for lower budget films to have a proper color pallet throughout instead of having to rely on set design. Eye catching color choices really is a make or break for a cinematic look. Being able to turn what originally was bland footage into a moody dystopian or a green tinged thriller scene is something incredible. I think proper color grading is a skill all beginning cinematographers should learn.

Fantastic tutorial 👌🏾 only thing l'd add to simplify matching the contrast between clips is to have them both in black and white. This helps those like me who are easily distracted by colours when matching contrast.

This is awesome. I recently joined an editing course and the instructor included a 20 minute colorgrading tutorial in premier pro. He manually had to colorgrade 15 individual clips He manually colorgraded 3 clips fastforward the video and colorgraded the last 2 clips, because it took that long. With this software, he cojld have reduced that time by at least 60 percent. I already decided to invest in this software. When you already know how to edit, sound design, vfx colorgrading your footage will set you apart as most people are not doing it.

great video, perfect concept and good practice. One major issue with 'following along' is that artgrid only lets you download the HD footage, not the log on a free account. The starting point and scope reads are very different. I know your intention was for us to watch, then do it ourselves, so i wanted to make sure you realized we can't with a free artgrid account. I *also* was interested in the same exercise from log, so i appreciated being able to watch your manipulation of log footage in the video. really and truly appreciate the great work here and attention to enabling skillsets across all three platforms.

Actually your are looking at a normalized image which is the first step when grading scene referred, he started right away with log image without color managed it, is not a bad thing though, the issue is if you have a 709 image with blown out whites and crushed shadows, if not, you can manage to get the same result as he did, (if the log and 709 were 8 bit)

Hey man, I got a BIG question, You see, I got a Lumix GH5 that can record in 10-bit but the thing is that I don't have a LOG profile, when I bought it, it didn't come with any, so I would have to buy it but it is rather expensive for me so my closest solution was using CineDLike profile, Now what I'm trying to say with this, I originally thought that I had to Color Transform(yes i use davinci) every single video I was going to do but, I noticed that some colors couldn't be achieved the same way others do by doing the same process, Hence, I learned that my clios were already in Rec709 format which means I don't really have to color transform anything... But now that put doubts of whether I should color transform to do color grading like this video or not One extra note, Davinci doesn't have any Panasonic color space

Have been thinking about purchasing Cinema Grade. As you mentioned...I have it in the cart and just need to pull the trigger. Curious if it's still working as expected with the newest version of Adobe Premiere Pro (Version 24.0.0 - Oct. 2023 Release). They've been making a ton of AI updates in it so just want to know all the functionality is still there. Anyone confirm no compatibility issues currently in WINDOWS VERSION? Thanks in advance....😎

Perhaps you can explain something to me. Why is it that SDR content generally looks brighter and more vibrant than its HDR counterpart? Meaning when I directly compare the same exact content on a calibrated panel in both SDR and HDR, the SDR version will almost always seem to have a higher average luminosity level and more vibrant colors. This is not because brightness levels are cranked up either. HDR seems a bit less saturated but with the benefit of the occasional high nit specular highlight and perhaps better shadow detail. Just having a hard time finding a technical explanation for why SDR is actually more vibrant and generally brighter on average. Is it because it is a more compressed format? I have read that SDR has a higher average luminosity level, this seems to be the case.
