Either low battery, or clogged fabric filter that’s on top of the “canister”. Watch my video how to clean all filters and vacuum to maximize performance and life of Dyson. When filter is clogged, it prevents airflow and therefore overloads motor, and electronics turn off motor to prevent overheating. If cleaning/replacing filters and chatting battery doesn’t help, then it might be issue with electronics of Dyson, but its very unlikely. I had the issue you are having, and fixed it by washing that long fabric filter and replacing back filter.

I would recommend a capacity of 4Ah or higher, because less than 4Ah may not provide a long enough runtime. However, a smaller battery is lighter in weight. If your priority is to keep it light, you may want smaller batteries and swap them more often when they run out of power. Having both smaller and heavier batteries is also a good option, allowing you to choose depending on the size of the job.

I have V8. Me and my wife love it. I tried V10 and it seems like a good vacuum, but its a lot heavier. The extra weight was enough reason NOT to upgrade. My V8 is about 4 years old and still runs great when cleaned right. I will be posting video soon how to clean it well. Waiting for it to get dirty enough. I did not try models other than V8 and V10. My local BestBuy has them on display charged and ready to try out.

@@dk-tech-guy Can you confirm this? I was researching and the dewalt batteries have the protection built into the tool not the battery. I don't know if the new batteries are like this. The only battery that I heard of having built in protection is the makitas if I'm not mistaken. If I'm wrong then that is great news, I bought the adapter but never used it because I was afraid of over discharging the batts.

@@sergioflores7169 I wasn't able to confirm that completely but there is bunch of electronics inside of the adapter (I took it apart to check).
