Wow man that's a simple character and you didn't even made his face exact like the reference. You made his face flat like a plate but his face is actually wraped to his body.

I've seen one person do this, but do you think that if you first added a cube, gave it subsurf and applied and then in edit mode selected all vertices and searched for transform>to sphere , if that would make the modelling smoother? so that you don't have to move the corners around when you've gotten to a curtain point?

I'm really interested on how you did that pink / gold material shown on the beginning of the video. Would you mind to share?

I used a mix shader. Two principle bdsf nodes. . One metallic with gold color, one pink with a little roughness Then I plugged a spotted image texture into the mix shader factor.

At 8:12 I dont have solid and wireframe overlayed and my line aremt straight at all. In addition they arent close to the face

Following along should yield same results. Maybe reset your blender to default settings when starting. To view wireframe that can be turned on in the overlays at the top

How did you paint the gold circles in the thumbnail? It looks like a different material. Masking? Texture painting?

I answered in the comments below :) Turned metal to one on principled bdsf and gave it a yellow color, then used a downloaded polka dot pattern as a image texture, plugged into the factor node of a mix shader between the gold material and pink material in the video

Learning both is good. Learn what you need to get the job you want. If the type of studios you want to work at use maya, learn maya. If you want to work independently use what you want.

Small quibble, but there is no such thing as a "verticee". Its a vertex.

@evil-doer You sure? the point where two lines meet to form an angle and the corners of polygons and polyhedra are vertices. Vertex’s are just singular vertices so basically there not connected to anything but itself.

@@oli4665 Vertex is singular and vertices plural. So if you select one corner of a plane, you do select one vertex, even though it's connected to others.
