I have paid for PP's in the past and currently use Cinestyle, but with this 8-Bit Camera, I like to know what I'm getting straight out of the camera and then make minor tweaks/adjustments. Enjoy!

Use liveview oversharpen and set picture profile sharpness to Max when shooting raw video on the Eos M. Also the set button zooms X3 for more focus clarification.

@@amitanand498 What do you intend to use it for? I think it's excellent, it has quirks like most cameras do, but it can achieve a very filmic look. The dynamic range is excellent I reckon. There are lots of short films with this camera on my channel including this one I did a while ago which shows very good dynamic range: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLuoeK1-p5aWnWg.html The M6ii is good for vlogging and YT, but it's a bit pricey.

Cheers buddy! Raw is your best option for that, or a camera that can shoot ProRes/10bit.

@@amitanand498 The M6ii is 8-bit, Eos M 14 bit. But if your doing casual stuff, M6ii is fine. I just really dig the look of the EOS M Raw.

Zeek! Another useful and interesting video. You have a really good sense of color: not only with the presets, but your LUTs and the LUTS you choose to use. I feel your choice of color and grading really adds to your story telling. I live in Japan now but a lot of your vids remind of growing up in OZ especially when I was younger, and I think part of that feeling of nostalgia, not only comes from the subject of your shoots, but your color.

Great tutorial Zeek and simply explained, thanks. I have tried out Danne's experimental builds with better write times on Sandisk cards and managed to move all my settings up a notch, exciting speed and performance boost for this great little Camera, results look amazing from the EOS M, so many improvements lately with CM settings and thanks for this major improvement from you

Fab Zeek 30fps looks smooth just like TV program from the states I think your region is same as UK Pal 25fps and I find it pretty good as it's close to film and won't flicker under street lights etc great profile can't wait to try it 👍

@@ZeekEOSZ course 60fps divides well into 24 n 30 for slow mo just slow enough and not over done like 120 that so many b rolls use

Yeah 60fps is nice for sure, a good balance. 120fps on the M50 looks like an 80's Camcorder or CCD Camera lol..

My camera only support .pf2 . It doesn't show threshold and grains . Does it means it's not applied ? Or its just not showing up?

It seems to me that you can install .PF3, and those two options simply will not appear. What is the camera you have?

If I understand this correctly, does it mean I can technically create a "LUT-look" that will be baked into my footage? And I suppose I wouldn't need to do as much post-processing apart from exposure, matching etc.?

You can increase the saturation of each individual colour, contrast, curve etc...so it's up to the look you want. You can make the picture profile look flat, contrasty etc... You can add one cinematic LUT on post and adjust the opacity.

Hello Zeek, I am new to Canon and have bought a canon EOS M50 to help take my wee Hiking Videos to the next level. I was using a FHD 1080p video camera, but the image quality isn't brilliant. just downloaded the two Profiles you created and hope to use them on my next Hike on The Rob Roy Way in FULL traditional gear and Great Kilt. Looking forward to getting to grips with this little camera and making better videos. I am very new to KZfaq too, doing it to help keep memories as I have memory issues.

Have you tried the cinestyle picture profile? It's pretty good too. 1080p is what I avoid. I always use 4K and then wide stabilised lenses like the Canon 10-18, 18-135 or Canon 17-55 IS.

@@ZeekEOSZ I downloaded that as well last night, but not put it on yet, I tried the ones you made and Filmkit Flat, so going to put them onto the PC tonight and have a play. All this is new to me. I just picked the Canon EOSM50 up last week, so not got to grips with it yet, watching every video I can so I can learn, that's how I found yours. Very helpful it was too, so thank you for appreciated.

Zeek.....your cinematic videos are quite amazing. I love the detail that you can capture in close ups of people and also plants, etc. Great! One question for you: I have an M100 and 22mm f2. So far, for stills I love it! I wasn't looking to make videos but after finding your channel I'd like to work on that more. I find the M100 video in 1080 REALLY soft even when I up the sharpness. Eventually I'll pick up an EOS M but for now other than increasing sharpness on the M100 any suggestions? Thank you! Dave

Glad you like them! It's hard to get a nice image out of those 1080p cameras, because with canon, they're not really 1080p, they look upscaled. With the EOS M it's RAW so more detail and it gives it a cinematic texture. With the M100 for now, I'd suggest using cinestyle, Vision Color or the Picture Profile in this vid. Then use a Rec 709 LUT adjusting it's strength a little lower so it's not too strong. Ensure White balance is correct and exposure.

Are the two parameters under the sharpness the highest sharpness on the far right? Some people on China's Internet say that the sharpness to the left is the highest, which is confusing.

At 2:20 I'm also noticing banding in the clear blue sky with your footage. I've resolved this issue by over exposing 1+ when shooting in clear blue sky

It effects mainly the Color tones not the highlights. You would probably want to do that in the post. I'm hoping to create an Alexa LOG Conversion LUT for the M/M50 just for B-Roll or KZfaq Stuff.

there's some that I've seen with a split toning effect. do you know if there;s another app I can use to get more granular with colours and even get into individual rgb channel curves?

you can't colour grade a lot with this program. It's not that flexible and you cant import luts.

What nonsense! Zeek, you have almost everything I need to learn! For now, that is. You do not have clip about Image Transfer Utility. I cannot make it (M50) work with my Windows 10. I had tweaked all the security to no avail. EOS Utility has no problem communicating with the camera. Incidentally, 30FPS is definitely slightly smoother-looking than 24FPS. It also depends on the data bits per second thing (as I was understood), hence 30FPS of one camera may not look as good as 30FPS of another camera.

@@ZeekEOSZ Oh not EOS Utility I was referring. I have been using it since I bought the EOS Kiss M/M50 last year. I also have been using Marvel Picture Profile, used Cinestyle, and other PP's without issue. What I meant is Image Transfer Utility. asia.canon/en/support/0200588502/5 What this 'suppose' to do is to automatically transfer images from camera to computer. It does not work for me, however. Do you know or have you tried this thing?

@@realchristopher4334 Ah right. Never tried image transfer utility. I normally send the raw photo files straight to my phone via wifi or just through the SD to the Mac/Windows system. Is it via cable, could possibly be the cable? I know EOS Utility doesn't work unless I have the correct cable that came with the camera.

@@ZeekEOSZ Ah. I know why! According to Canon's description, EOS Utility does not support EOS M. I presume you primarily use EOS M. However, down there it says "....EOS M2, EOS M is connected, EOS Utility 2.14 will be started". So yes, you could be correct that your camera needs the correct cable that came with the camera. A look at EOS M page, it does not have EOS Utility. Makes sense! M50 works with EOS Utility via WiFi. I would assume that EOS M does not have the WiFi technology of M50. The good thing of your EOS M is it can use Magic Lantern, although method of transferring images could be troublesome.

Yep, cool! Transferring images via the M2 is easier as it has Wi-fi.

You need EOS UTILITY. Then you need to connect your m50 to your computer with the USB Mini-B Cable. Then you select register picture profile. There are videos online on how to do this. I like to shoot 4K a lot with this camera. It's nice. 😎👍

What did you shoot the b-roll clips in? did you use raw?

No they were with the M50 normal H.264, no raw. Just used the Custom Profile I made, added a lut and adjusted exposure.
