So do you dry out the corn husks after shucking your corn and then soak them just before making your doll?

You can buy the corn shucks at stores or online already dry

If you don’t have string you can use a thin piece of the husk

No, they're easier to manuver while they're still wet. Adjust your doll's limbs how you'd like them- once dried, that's the shape they will stay in

@@indigenousfamilyliteracyci8380 how long do they take to dry. They won't get moldy? I live in a rainy climate. I cannot dry the dolls in the sun. Should I put them in the oven or blow dry them?

I don’t know where you live. I’m in Albuquerque, New Mexico and I buy them at the grocery store in the Mexican food section because corn husks are used to make tamales. They sell probably 2 dozen in a package for about $7.
