SUPER EASY!
Ingredients:
6 cups water
1 to 6 cups of white distilled vinegar ( I used 6 but can decrease to 3)
1 bottle of hair conditioner (cheapest) 2 cups
Mix and use immediately! Experiment with 2 tablespoons to 1/4 cup each load.

I've recently been using this method of homemade fabric softener because i wanted to save money especially on a part-time job. I save 1 cup of water from the 6 cups to use in the conditioner after squeezing most of it out first. It's just to rinse out the bottle for the recipe and not waste any conditioner. Then i add the vinegar slowly, which i used 4 cups of it. No vinegar smell at all, especially with the conditioner and it made it smell better. I agree with the concern of chemicals in cheap conditioner, but I'm on a budget and wanna find ways to save money. My mom and I do laundry 2-3 times a week. And we are surprised with the results each time. I really recommend this recipe!

A lot of people use just white vinegar as a fabric softener & hey, if it works for them, great! I've tried it. It doesn't soften our laundry. But I don't have a dryer. I line dry our laundry. I have made this fabric softener shown by Margaret & it works for us. Thank you!

I use 6 cups of water and 2 cups of vinegar and a 16oz hair conditioner. Sometimes I can't find a 16oz hair conditioner so I buy 2 15oz bottles from the Dollar tree and pour it in a 2 cup measuring cup. Works really well. i just wish it would leave a stronger smell on my clothes.

I do 12 cups water, 2 bottles of conditioner, 4 cups vinegar, and 1/4 cups of borax to thicken slightly. This fills 2 of my old 64 oz. Fabric softener bottles and gives me a partial third. I use one of those Downy balls in my washer. But I also made my own fab soft sheets using the liquid in a small container with handi-wipes I cut to fit my container. It's pretty thick so if you don't like a slightly slimey feel here's a heads up. 🙂 But it doesn't stain your clothes and you just pop the sheet back in your container when the load is dry.

I stay away from the conditioner altogether, since it take out the ALL natural and enviro aspects. I use only WHITE VINEGAR, to warm water, in a 3 ( water) to 1 ( vinegar) ratio. 1 tablespoon of baking soda per cup of water. and 5-10 drops of your favorite clear essential oil ( peppermint is my number one), and VOILA, and you have hands down the best fabric softner, and guess what it can be used to "febreeze" drapes etc, and calms the allergens in the air. Please try and let me know, what you guys think.

Depending on what type of machine you have. Some may want to use distilled or purified water. Also if conditioner is thick may want to put directly into basin as it is filling to not clog up your machine by adding to the tray. Just a thought. But I’ll definitely try it out soon! Thanks for the video. ☺️

Hanging clothes up in the sunshine outside not only gives clothes that great outdoors scent (I dunno about doing this in the city), but also the UV from the sun is said to kill germs, so esp. if you have some bug going through the house/neighborhood, it's great to give clothes time in the sun! about 20-30 minute after they are dry (hanging them all day until dry makes an amazing difference too! Also, would be great to find what you need/want from hair conditioners, as they too vary and some have some not-so-great chemicals in them!

White vinegar used in the laundry does more to reduce mold and mildew spores that produce the smells that cling to fabrics. I haven't seen where the home made fabric softeners actually make the fabric softer, less static filled, but not really softer.

people are doing these 'homemade" versions for different reasons. Many of them just want to save money and don't care if they are using cheap harmful chemiclas, others, like you and I, want safer alternatives than the commercial options available, but I also want to save some dough!! I use 1/2 cup white vinegar and a few drops of citrus essential oil in my rinse cycle. it's great! and a lot easier than following this videos recipe.

I think making smaller batches would be more practical, since you are only using a tiny amount in each wash. I live alone, so this amount would not work for me. Thanks for the video, though. ...how much vinegar do you use for fabic softener, about a half cup? Also, if some of these people read her recipe above.. she wrote 1-6 cups of vinegar per gallon. Its up to each individual how much they want in their recipe. She used 6 cups. I've read recipes with 5 cups. I think the trick here is to add ALL the conditioner if more than a 16 oz. bottle when using the 6 cps of vinegar.
