For anyone thinking about making their own or using these, please do your research extensively on how to do everything safely, like using paper materials to mix supplies to avoid static and what mixtures are impact sensitive and how to safely store supplies, and try to be responsible using such things, away from houses or people to not disturb or not doing damage to property or people, these are what made them illegal to begin with and we don’t need them making supplies illegal or harder to get.

always test your fuses before using them, sometimes there are faults that make them go instantly

Luckily I found this out by accident. I was just messing with some old cords that had been sitting around for a while and when I lit it, it went instantly in less than a second! Scariest s#%! in my life right there. So I always know to check now.

So I need to light the fuse I am going to need for the firework to see if it will not go instantly? Then I would need to take another one and test it again? How am I gonna light my firework? :(

@@xXrandomryzeXx You just take like 10cm piece from every batch of fuse, then burn it and see how fast it goes. Then you know rest of the fuse is safe because if there is one fault it will be the whole lenght

Recently I've been trying to make miniature versions of common fireworks like starmines and aerial shells. One technique I've been working on is using sugar as the main fuel and binder for colored stars. I got the idea from the common sugar rockets and "sparklers" that people make using KNO3 but it turns out that if you use KClO4+Sugar+Colorant you can get some nice stars and microstars. Anyway, very interested to watch any videos where you get into small scale firework making, keep up the good work!

@@ciphercraft6176 If you're interested here are some of the sugar-based star recipes I've tested that work: wybiral.github.io/fireworks/compositions/stars/sugar/ They can either be pumped, cut, or rolled into stars by hand (after being slightly moistened). These recipes don't work so well for flares, but for colored microstars in starmines, fountains, and shells they work great.

We used to make m-80s in the 1980s by using the cardboard tubes from clothing hangers. We got the flash powder the hard way, by slicing open black cats and tapping out the powder into a dixie cup until we had enough. Wick and epoxy and good to go.

Several years ago the Safeway store I go to in the produce area.,those clear bags.,the core is a spiral round kraft tube! 3/4 i.d. by over 3" long! Over a period of time when I see only a few bags on a roll, I grab it and take it home and save them! I ended up with over 100 tubes!....go forward to 2022, now Kraft tubes are replaced by plastic tubes! Ugh., they don't blow up! If they did the pieces of flying plastic would be dangerous!!!

you could ALSO like me take the tubes from the leftover firework cakes that you have fired on new years or ofc fourth of July those cake tubes come in massive quantities and are really sturdy this is my first year doing and making my own pyro and i find those tubes in those 100-200 shot finale cakes really useful and they last so long ive done multiple mortar shot tests throw them star shooter tests and many upon many tests and they will break after 10-15 uses but again y'all should try that @CipherCraft

Pyrocreations, Canon fuse, you can get caps and fuse also from them, and i I find it best to get your fuse already pre-cut.

Just got a piece of art...it had a 1.75" thick tube 6" around and 3' long.... I'm fiberglassing the exterior and making heavy duty caps.... Should be fun.

Cipher there are many formulas to create flash powder: kno3+s+al kno3+mg kclo4+al Kno3+s+ Magnalium Kclo3+al if you use one of these, could you tell me in what percentage?

I just use a good old fashioned 70/30 ratio. Its pretty stable as far as sensitivity to shock goes, and makes a nice satisfying BOOM

@@robinhood1016 65/35 is much better, the boom is deeper noted and more powerful. 5-10% Sulfur can be added onto that formula for variation too.
