This is a tutorial explaining how to make your own large version my mini angle grinder chop saw which is my most used tool, it will cut metal box section which I could not do on the mini version
It puts to use my 9” (230mm) angle grinder to use instead of it just sitting in its box and saved me £300 as I was going to buy the Dewalt DW872 goo.gl/xGwFCg

To be honest, I was going to say a snarky comment, if you have a welder and can weld, and have all those other metal working tools, why don't you just get a proper meal cutting chop saw? Then...you showed a completely simple way to mount the saw that will help me with my bolted together version (for the rare, but needed metal cutting I do). Totally valuable. Thanks for helping me out.

Hi. This is my next thing to do. I had a lucky scape from a grinder just 10 seconds from finishing a job. I found your project the best for me. I will only make a small change in the "handle". You have put a strait rod up, I will make it go foward to the person is using it. I will felt safer not going over the grinder and I think it will give me more grip. Thanks for the video.

The only thing I see that might give you trouble is the nut that's for the adjuster. Even though it has some good welds on it, if it were me, I'd try and gusset it or weld a piece of 1/8 the C- channel over top of the nut. Just my opinion. From one Welder/Fabricator to another, AWESOME job. 2 THUMBS UP 👍👍 and consider me a subscriber.

I would add a movable corner to the hairpin. So it will be better to squeeze the whole area.

With that cable coil you will be inducing a big electromagnetic field, the cables can get extremely hot and melt the isolation. A must fix. Except for that a well built stand.

Kudos for your effort, really top knotch, but buying the materials and time spent the cost outweighs buying a used metal chop saw. I bought a Bosch blue one for 100 euro, a used one. I am limited because I don't know how to weld so making it myself is a no go unless I used screws and bolts and so. Once again hat off for your skills!

You should avoid winding a cable like that at 15:05. When using higher loads you're risking the cable overheating and melting the isolation.

Just paused it at the wire box so i don't forget to mention this. The wire box, that's not spot welding, that's plug or more likely slot welding. Great job though.

projectmayhemUK Spot wielding is just that, a single spot. It's just enough to hold it together. You may want to look up the European welding codes and welding processes. Here in the USA, we have a couple different types of Codes to go by, such as AWS that's a common one. the welding symbols differ slightly as well. Hope this is helpful and fruitful

Good work but very heavy welding for the base plate, flat head bolt and nuts and couple of small holes can do the job without wasting energy and save you time, unnecessary grinding and welding material, since this tool grinds and cuts, small particles can penetrate inside the electrical box and causes short circuit, I know that for fact, sooner or later you will have electrical problem, I had a several cases with electric motors junction and on off switch boxes since I'm repair technician, my suggestion is to remove the box and put somewhere far away or use waterproof sealed electrical box.

sometime somewhere, maybe put oil on your drill or on your tool, you will save money and it will not break during drilling. Its the way i have been taught.

si sirve y se puede usar pero at in detaye, that ting only cuts 1'' tick is not worsted, esa makinita solo corta 1'' de gruesor, at que voltiar los tubos
