Channel description
This channel is all about photo editing and the photography gear used to capture the images. I cover RAW image processing and help beginner photographers learn how to use their equipment to capture and edit the photo they see in their minds. The photo editing software used on this channel is On1 Photo Raw, Luminar and Nik Collection. I also use mobile editing apps on my iPad Pro using my apple pencil. The mobile photo editing apps I use are Affinity photo, ON1 Mobile and Pixelmator Photo.

Wow! That is great. You can make your own LUT to go with a particular style of image. Thank you for showing that. Brilliant tutorial. I have Affinity 2 also. Thank you again.

Now THIS was awesome possum wow I enjoyed this!!!!! I'm a very late bloomer that was always into my own ways but I was tired of the "stock" look, I need some styling and I have affinity and OBS so this should work perfectly! I want to create my own luts without copycatting and this was on the money. Thank you for taking time to work this video.

My pleasure and I am happy this was able to get you moving in the right direction. I am vary familiar with creating LUTs for OBS, and I did this exact thing when I wanted to add a LUT into my streams. Good Luck

Great tutorial! I am hoping something like this comes to On1 Photo Raw. If you know of a similar workflow to create LUTs in On1 please do a tutorial on it! Thanks!

Thanks Sean! I also hope ON1 comes out with a feature like this in the future, because that would be amazing. With that said, we can create a custom color grade in ON1 using photo filters. Here is a video I did last year to demonstrate how to do that. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/feCYfdl1u9PJlIk.html

I remember, must’ve been at least 5 years ago, making a LUT in Photoshop. Back then I was more into learning how to do various things in PS and not how or why I’d use a LUT. I’ve not made a single LUT since but may try your method here since I have both Affinity Photo 2 and ON1 Photo RAW 2023 (latest versions of both). Do you use LUTs in your normal workflow? Should we use them? This was a very nice tutorial Chris! 👍🏻👍🏻💜💜👍🏻👍🏻

Hey TC, thanks for the comment and question. The simple answer is yes I do use LUTs in my workflow and I think everyone should explore them at some point. The reason I use them is for simple over all looks on an image. If I want the teal and orange look on an image then I just add the LUT filter and I have it. Now to be fair you can get very similar looks using the split tone filter and even my work around trick to color grade in ON1. But again this is a simple way, to add a quit look to a photo. The other benefit to using LUTs is that you can use them in other programs such as Photoshop, Luminar, and video editing applications. I think you can use them in Capture 1 as well, but I am not familiar with that program.

Nice tutorial, but what if I want to use 5 colors instead of 3? There are only 3 points on the gradient map.

Thank you and great question! If you want to add more modes on the gradient map in Affinity Photo, just double click on the area where you want the node to be placed. You can move therm around as well if you want it in a different area. Sorry I didn't cover that in the tutorial.

hm. when I export the LUT, the preview image doesn't change (isn't LUTified). resulting LUT doesn't work either. must be missing something.

Interesting... What tools are you using in Affinity Photo to create your LUT? If they are not contrast or color specific tools, then you will not see the change. Also if they are textures, then that wont work as well. LUTS are only good to color grade an image

there are two problems: first, I had to move the adjustment out to its own layer. that got the LUT preview/exported. now, the second problem is that other people can apply that LUT successfully, but I can't, so I must be adding it wrong (Adjustments -> LUT... -> Load LUT...) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pardon my stupid question but what does on1 do that affinity photo cant?
@FreeWillPhotos
@FreeWillPhotos Жыл бұрын
This is not a stupid question at all. 1. ON1 allows you to keyword and catalog your images for easy recall. This is also known as Digital Asset Manager (DAM). 2. ON1 allows you to process RAW files in batch, and it is dedicated to RAW processing. Affinity Photo has a RAW processor, but it is not as intuitive as ON1 is. 3. ON1 allows for resizing of images if you crop or need them to be just a little bit larger. This is really only useful for heavily cropped images or if you use a low-megapixel camera like a cell phone. 4. ON1 allows you to create your own presets or just upload one from another creator. This feature pairs well when you are processing batch files and want to apply the same look to 150 photos all at the same time. 5. ON1 has some good AI tools that help with masking. The latest update is really what I think sets the AI tools apart from Affinity Photo, but I will say that you can get more accurate masks using Affinity Photo. Other than that, ON1 and Affinity Photo are pretty much the same. I think you should lean towards ON1 if you are looking for a program that allows you to organize, complete simple and advanced edits, and modify the pixel count of an image. If none of those things interest you, I would say Affinity Photo is all you need. On the other hand, if you have both Affinity Photo and ON1, you can do some really amazing things. I hope this helps.
