Founded in 2010. As of Jan 2020, the platform has more than 50 million students and 57,000 instructors teaching courses in over 65 languages.
2 Skillshare
Also founded in 2010, Skillshare offers courses in creative arts, design, entrepreneurship, lifestyle, technology and more. It’s the most popular platform among visual artists, like boutique store instead of supermarkets.
3 Teachable
Good sales and marketing tools, very mainstream, quite reliable. $39 a month or $29 billed annually, unlimited students but 5% transection fee.
4 Thinkific
Beautiful template, for creative professionals. Free to make 3 courses. $49 a month basic plan, $99 professional.
5 Course Craft
Very simple and easy, minimalist course authoring software. It’s free to integrate into your website. Free plan, no upfront costs, unlimited courses, instant payouts, 9% transection fee. Paid plans from $23 a month. Low budget choice.
6 Edmodo
If you teach art to underage students (K12), you can consider Edmodo. You can invite parents to join and check on the progress of your students. Edmodo is free to use for teachers.
7 Kajabi
If you want a professional tool with strong funnel marketing, Kajabi might be right for you. Starting from $119 a month, designed for enterprises.
8 LearnWorlds
It has strong features such as interactive eBooks, branded digital certificates. It’s SCORM compliant and mobile friendly. Starting from $24 a month.
9 LearnDash
It’s the most trusted WordPress LMS plugin that works with most WP themes. You need a WP website for it to work though. Pricing starts from $159 a year.
10 TalentLMS
You can create 10 free courses for up to 5 users with TalentLMS. The paid plan starts from $59 a month. It’s primarily designed for companies to train their employees via courses and online seminars.
11 Moodle
Released in 2002, Moodle is probably the most popular learning management system. It’s free and open-source, written in PHP.

12 Adobe Captivate
Captivate is known as a screen recording software but it goes beyond that. You can create mobile-ready courses easily after learning how to use it. If you teach digital art, Captivate could be a good choice for you. Subscription from $33.99 a month.
13 Google Classroom
Google Classroom is an online platform that enhances the learning experience in the physical classroom. It is part of the Google Apps for Education suite which strives to enable paperless learning in the classroom. Like Google docs and google forms, it’s free for all users.
14 Capabiliti
Based in Australia, Capabiliti is a mobile-first training platform. The standard license at $1500 a month. What? I do not recommend it to any freelancers. But it gives us a good idea of how much those software are worth.
