I feel like BlackMagic could make this a lot easier to do, though. Coming from a former FCP/Motion user, their system of creating your own titles is a billion times easier than this.

I so needed this a few weeks ago. Even though I’ve been subscribed for over a year, this didn’t pop up until today. I’ve got a massively complex comp trying to mask a few different text elements along the bottom of my videos that calls out what is happening during church services. Davinci resolve 17 is hands down the best video editor I’ve ever used

I'll have to actually try this the next time I open Resolve, but as of right now my only "criticism" is that I wish this tutorial was slowed down a bit. As it is, I felt like it jumped around a lot, and then at the end when you decided to change node paths and all that, I think my brain blue-screened. XD It could also be because I'm old, who knows! I'll try following along next time I open the editor and see if I can figure it out! All that said, thank you for these videos! (I've watched several tonight, so I feel like I'm spamming the comments. LOL)

Hey, thank you for this nice tutorial. Is there any way of publishing parameters to the Edit page without going over external files or templates or macros? I very often just want to create a Fusion composition from scratch I never re-use for one single project and make some parameters visible in the edit page so I can iterate quickly over the settings.

for anyone trying to do this sort of thing with the box set to 50% opacity or something like that, just add a color curves node in-between the scale everything node and the Merge Node. Change your curves on the alpha channel and then BOOM its fully white and can mask out your content!

Awesome stuff! Wonder if anyone can help, please? I want to create an effect where I zoom in on a word, down to a single image in a letter - the letters are made from multiple images (hope I've explained it well enough). Would I have to create an image first , that's a collage shaped, in to letters for the word then use zoom within resolve to get close to an image in a letter, or is there something I'm missing entirely? This worked the first time very well. But when I make a new project and try to load up my Title effect in the Effect menu it says Media Offline. Only if I open up the original project does the media load when i drag in the effect. Can anyone help me get this working with new projects?

I followed your steps for saving and compressing the "edit" file. When i try to put it in the nodes window resolve tells me its unable to install because the path is not right

I've followed this tutorial twice now, at work and at home. Work on a Windows machine, home is a Mac. No problems at work, but at home after I save the .settings file in the right spot and I see it as a Title option, the images are not appearing. I've tried PNG and SVG files, I've re-done it and selected everything I could think of in the settings when saving the macro to try and get them to show up. Nothing... Any suggestions on what is going wrong on my Mac at home?

Great tutorial, Casey. What is the main difference between a Shadow node and a DropShadow node?

Is there a way to use an expression, maybe, to dynamically set a keyframe to that an ending animation can be performed and not have it dependent on the length of the fusion clip? For instance, you want the title to be 3 seconds one time and 7 another. So the end animation is triggered n number of frames from the end of the clip, which is variable.

Is there anyway to package up a Macro into a title for the edit page that has video inputs?

Casey - a few quick questions please. 1. Why use the shadow node rather than the drop shadow node? 2. I created mine so it stays on screen for 3 or 4 seconds and then animates back off (I just used keyframes). Is there a better way to do that? 3. Surely there is an easier way to install a macro? I just saved it in whatever was the default place (a resolve sub folder I think, but I can't find it now). facepalm. Still looking - any ideas? Thanks.

Hey Casey, I'm new to Davinci Resolve and struggling to create a lower thirds template for my company. They want a blurred-out background, a colored bar that animates onto the screen, and text for the person's name and position. The lower thirds should take up the entire lower third of the screen without dominating the picture. How can I create a transparent background that blurs out the video in the background? Also, trying to create a thin coloured line that animates ontot he screen sounds simple, but again I'm struggling. Any tips or advice you have would be greatly appreciated!
