Thanks for telling geographic north as the magnetic south, I watched so many videos about the same topic where others would call geo north as magnetic north which really made me perplexed about the whole concept.

Sir, how can we say that magnetic field lines starts from north pole and ends/enters into the south pole?
@MakeMeScientific2 жыл бұрын
Magnetic field lines are the path follow by unit North Pole magnet so north north repels and unit North Pole magnet moves ahead so
@IITBombay2025_2 жыл бұрын
@@MakeMeScientific Why are we taking north pole into consideration? Why can't we see south pole of the compass and draw the magnetic field lines? We will put the magnetic compass near south pole of the magnet and will see the south pole of the compass and after drawing lines, its direction will be from south pole to North pole?
@MakeMeScientific2 жыл бұрын
By default in definition North Pole is considered. We have to accept it

Sir but why at neutral point needle showed deflection
@malathik20734 жыл бұрын
Because, there the null point which means neutral point is 'zero'...
@neetubawa42333 жыл бұрын
firstly it was bound by the magnetic field of the earth but after reaching to the neutral point it left the magnetic field of earth (but also didn't enter the magnetic field of earth ~ otherwise it would have point in N-S direction acc to earth) when it comes at the neutral point the magnetic needle is neutralised by = & opposite magnetic fields hence the resultant magnetic field is 0 the needle here will act like a simple piece of iron... u might be confused why is it somewhat deflecting in E-W direction, the reason is that when we are moving the compass fastly it first tends to enter into the magnetic field of earth and "seems" to rest in somewhat E-W direction... hope it helps 😊❣️

Sir pls tell me how to understand about the direction from north to south in the magnet.I mean the directions in the bar magnet.
@MakeMeScientific3 жыл бұрын
It's imprinted on the magnet. You can also suspend the magnet with thread and it will automatically align towards North South direction

How to locate the board in magnetic meridian you have not shown
@MakeMeScientific Жыл бұрын
It is a line on the earth’s surface, passing in the direction of the horizontal component of the earth's magnetic field. A compass needle, however, will not be steady in the magnetic meridian because the latitude from east to the west becomes a complete geodesic curve.

Sir is there any error based in this experiment
@MakeMeScientific8 күн бұрын
When conducting an experiment like plotting magnetic field lines around a bar magnet and finding null points, there are several potential sources of errors that could affect the results. Here are some possibilities: Measurement Errors: Instrument Precision: The accuracy of the compass or other devices used to measure the magnetic field lines. Human Error: Incorrect reading of the instrument due to parallax error or misalignment with the magnet. Magnetic Interference: External Magnetic Fields: Presence of other magnets, electrical devices, or metal objects nearby that could influence the magnetic field lines. Earth's Magnetic Field: If not properly compensated for, the Earth's magnetic field could interfere with the measurements. Experimental Setup: Alignment: Incorrect positioning of the magnet or compass relative to each other or to the measurement plane. Stability: Vibrations or movement during measurements can lead to inconsistent readings.
