I just discovered the airbrush for leather, I’ll never go back. The airbrush just gives you complete control over the dye, that the daubers can’t, and you use so much less. (And dye ain’t cheap) I’m using a $15 eBay airbrush, and it works like a charm.👍🏻

Thank you so much, this video was exactly what I was wanting to learn. I just recently picked up the same exact colour dye, and I tried the dauber and noticed just that, I wasn't getting the honey colour. I'm still fairly new to the leather, and I just picked up the airbrush from Harbor Freight, and I've been eager to get to using it but was hesitant. But again this video put all my concerns at ease, thank you again. Keep doing what you do!

I'm no professional in working with leather but I recently dyed a pair of boots and since I'm an automotive painter by trade I diluted the dye with acetone and sprayed it through my mini hvlp spray gun with a 1.0 fluid tip. It worked great! I got really even coats and was able to control the color very easily by applying multiple light coats. Might be something you'd wanna try in the future.

Pashee air brushes are great to use and the learning curve is short. I use mine for touch up on rust repairs on metal parts and for anything I would use a spray can of paint on. An air brush gives you better control of the amount of paint or dye you spray.

What would you recommend when painting with Angelus paints over the brown and red feibings dyes? Every time I paint lets say white or yellow over airbrushed dyes, the dye seems to bleed through the paint and make it look yellow (when using over brown dye) or pink (when using over red dye). I've used super sheen, spray leather sheen and resolene as a sealer between the dye and paint and I still have the bleeding problem. Thanks in advance for any advice and nice video~ Ellicia~ Gettin It Custom Leather, LLC.

Do you also spray oil dye with your airbrush,if so,do you dilute it and what ratio.I suspect dry time would be longer than the alcohol based dye? Thanks for the video
@makersleathersupply12205 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, the rule of thumb with an airbrush is it needs to be thinner than the consistency of milk... so an oil dye will work just fine without diluting.

Aaron, can you use black antique over black dye or is it necessary. And if you wanted a black dye with red showing would you mix the two or apply one then the other over it. I am new at this and hope you don't mind. Thank you.
@makersleathersupply12205 жыл бұрын
Alan, black antique over black dye doesn't sound like it would do much to me, but I could be wrong. As far as red showing I'm not sure what effect you are going for. If you mix red dye and black dye you'll basically get black or deep purple.
@MountainFisher5 жыл бұрын
Alan, if you dye the leather red first using the fiebings pro dye only and then go over it with fiebings black antique you can get a good black red contrast. You might also, if the latter isn't black enough, try the red dye first, then mix some red and black dye and thin it with rubbing alcohol real thin and dye again, then the antique. Experiment.

I`m always gob-smacked when I see anyone spraying without using a proper spraying mask & I don`t mean a cheapo $5 types either. Your health is at serious risk if you don`t wear one when spraying .
