It is a VW golf... Hahahaha, as a European I find these things sooo funny. Also if I was to go out and throw a ball I would say 'i'm gonna go throw a ball'. If it was something I did regularly I might call it a 'throw around' - similar to a 'shoot around' (in basketball) or a 'kick around' (in football). I wouldn't say anything about catch specifically though. Also, how is 'having a catch' proper English? You do not own the catch? Where as if you were playing catch then the name of the game would be catch, so it does make sense. I find Americans confusing sometimes 😂 (I am English)
