Yes, on your products, the image of the little jar with the number on it is the recommended expiration date. The number indicates how many months from the time you open it. It is a recommendation, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will be BAD, just use your best judgement. Like, a lot of eyeshadow palettes will say 12 months, but most people use their pallets for a few years and don't throw away they're eyeshadow after just 12 months. But, cream and liquid products tend to go bad way faster than powder products, so that number is probably closer to accurate for creams and liquids than it is for powders. So, yes it IS a general indication of when a product could expire, but just use your best judgement (especially with creams and liquids). Also, foundations WILL separate (even when they're still good), just because of the ingredients. It is not an indication that it is bad. So, don't throw away foundations just because they separate. You could be throwing away perfectly good products. Just give it a little shake and it'll be fine. Now if it starts hardening or cracking, then that IS an indication that it is going bad! The oils separating in the product is different than the product itself just cracking and separating. I hope that makes sense and I hope it helps. 🙂

Expiration dates are good from the time you open and use it. I don't go by it but it does give me an approximate time frame of when it goes bad once opened and used. I go by the way it feels on the skin and smell and the way it looks. Also some types of products can break you out if it is expired too. But mainly for me, I go by the smell, how it looks and feels in my skin. I personally believe companies give those dates for 1, cause they have to by law and also they want you to get rid of it so u can buy more ( marketing tactic). I have makeup that I opened but not used passed the expiration date and it smells, looks and feels fine. Nothing wrong with it. Just use your discretion and you can tell when they are bad.
