As I'm 61, I find the best way to not look "older" is to remind myself to smile. Nothing brightens a personal style like a smile. My mom is 93, and when she smiles, she shines!

I agree with you regarding hoodies and sweatpants. There are plenty of other more stylish options that are comfortable. When it comes to men I absolutely dislike baseball caps outside of playing an actual ball game. Seeing men go out to dinner wearing a baseball cap and cargo shorts screams I DON'T CARE WHAT I LOOK LIKE and I made ZERO effort.

I’m 48 and I feel that great skincare is vital! I prioritize that over makeup. From retinol to vitamin c to masks and skin treatments I find my skin glows. I never leave the house without defining my eyes but my skin is bare and moisturized with a little blush. I never powder as I have naturally dry skin and I find that hydrated skin always looks healthier and more youthful.

No nudes for this 63 year old. Color on my lips lights up my whole face. I do have a couple pinky shades that re softer but they work well when I’m playing up my eyes with color. Thanks for the wonderful tips. We older ladies still love our makeup - just need to be more discerning in our choices. I wear shimmery eyeshadow too. 🙂

Merci beaucoup, Angela. One trick that I use, is dark plum mascara, instead of black. YSL, and Dr Hauschka both have this colour, and they are both wonderful! I have green eyes, and although I was uncertain at first, I now very rarely go back to black. Warmest regards from New Zealand 💜

Your makeup looks really work for me. I am 64. You have shown me I do not need to change the shape of my face and at any age can enhance what I have naturally. I am wearing less makeup. Your tips on diet are fantastic. It didn't occur to me before that I already had natural beauty, rather that I needed makeup to create that but now I know I have natural beauty, just need to enhance the positives.

Hello Angela, I really enjoyed this video, as you've provided tips and commentary that are "classics". I used to work in the cosmetics industry (in my 20s and 30s), and I could almost hear your words in my own voice!!!! You are absolutely correct about all of it (there are always a few exceptions). I laughed out loud when you got to the "American Sweatshirts/hoodies" , because at 54 I still wear sweats every day at home, but I choose to never wear them out: not even the grocery store. Why not? Over the years, I have known/worked with many European women, and they have all expressed the same opinion about wearing sweats (or any workout wear) as an outfit, unless at home or the gym. You are my favorite Beauty KZfaqr!

Hello and a huge THANK YOU for the kindest words! Saying that I'm your favorite KZfaqr really made my day! ❤ I wore a hoodie for the first time in the US. I remember it was a very unusual and cold summer in Berkeley, California and I was so unprepared for the cold weather lol. Everyone was wearing hoodies and that's why I bought a few and OMG they felt so comfortable and warm almost like a hug :) That was the only time when I wore hoodies outside (during this summer). Then when I came back to Europe I never wore one outside. As you mentioned it's not something that Europeans wear. It's considered as a gym outfit. I still have them in my wardrobe. Thank you for your honesty. I use Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh tint in #20. It’s light and blurring. It makes my skin look youthful and fresh. My skincare is all Chanel Sublimage and has drastically improved my skin. I suffer from cystic rosacea and this skincare stops my skin from reacting and developing cysts. Thank you for this tutorial Angela ❤ I’m 64yo & I completely agree with your skincare & makeup advice. I have intuitively been following your tips for many years 💄 However, I respectfully disagree with some of your fashion tips 😊 Although I am quite petite I love beautifully cut oversized clothing in quality fabrics, one of my favourite looks is oversized masculine suiting (both jacket & trousers) with a crisp white shirt. Oversized looks make me feel modern & kind of Scandi (although I’m Australian) 😅 I totally agree with a minimalist vibe when it comes to accessories, a statement handbag in a bright colour looks fabulous with a monochromatic outfit and gives a sophisticated but modern edge. Hope you don’t mind me sharing my opinion 😊

Hi Angela! 😊 Thank you for your honest advices! I totally agree with all you said. Regarding makeup I prefer to buy less but good quality. I think nobody ( I’m talking about ordinary people) need 23456 foundations, eyeshadows, powders, mascara etc. at the same time. I don’t use contouring powder and bronzer and I don’t understand why many people consider that is a must have. XOXO 🤗

Great video Angela! I just started to use eyeshadows recently (I used to use it in my teens the last time 😊) and followed your recommendations and got a couple of Chanel quads (Tisse Rivoli and Tweed #4). I was considering getting Charlotte Tilbery Sophisticate on Black Friday - based on your recommendation - but not sure now as it’s matte. What do you think? Is it good for aging leads? I kind of staying away from too shiny ones - bought Dior Soft Cashmere and had to return it as it looks too shiny for me. I do love Sisley Chestnut that you recommended 😊. That type of “shine” is very much to my liking. So trust only your recommendations from now on!

Thank you for giving us so many good tips in this video! I especially appreciate your recommendations regarding wearing beige, & particularly your advice to determine the season in which you'll wear it. I absolutely agree that wearing the wrong colour beige for our complexion in the wrong season (tanned vs untanned, & the various hues in between) can either overpower us, or make us look washed out.

Hmm. My trick is about mascara I run a tad of powder thru my lashes before primer and mascara then use a fluffy brush like the Milk Kush to slowly begin to build. I also believe in in loads if skincare and I've spent almost 3 years following skincare experts learning about ingredients So my skin is always as hydrated and a prepped as possible. I agree with most of your tips Angela except, I do wear the odd piece of animal print (and I’m 49). I tend to keep it to shoes though. Also I do love my loungewear! I try not to wear it outside though (as I agree that it doesn’t make us look our best) but sometimes I confess I still do 😅😮! Looking forward to hearing more from you on this topic 👍

Thank you so much for this informative and kind video. I loved all of your tips! I am 50 years old and struggle a bit with keeping my eye makeup softer because my hair and features are all so pale with no contrast, that playing up my eyes has always worked for me. I have found ways to soften it and will continue to do so as I age, but that one is definitely the hardest for me! I have found several magical products that I love for overall look and quality of my face wearing makeup: Urban Decay Naked foundation is wonderful, but I have even started using much less of that, opting for either a generous layer of Makeup Forever Pore Minimizer Primer first, or mixing the tiniest bit of foundation with a larger amount of Glam Glow Glowstarter (the first giving a blurry/slightly matte look, and the second giving a beautiful glowy soft look). I use almost no powder and tiny bits of concealer as needed, and when I do need to take some shine off of my nose or chin, just a small swipe of Fenty Beauty Invisimatte Blotting Powder works beautifully. All that said, my number ONE non-negotiable tip is having excellent side lighting or around the mirror lighting when doing makeup because it blows out all the shadows and makes my face look really good to begin with, which helps me use less makeup and concealer because I am sort of faked out to think that my skin looks even better than it actually does. 😂

Love your videos Angela. Thank you. Something I have recently experimented with is a tinted lip oil. They feel lovely alone or over lipstick. I also pat the product into my cheeks for a lovely subtle dewy cheek colour as an alternative to blusher. (But of course with minimal foundation as recommended by Angela 😊❤️)

Hi Angela What a great video. Okayyyyy. Baking? That is something that I do on my oven. As for foundation I go to the store and two or three little samples and bring them home and try not just for the color but coverage and glow( don’t use Matt’s they age me). Don’t use powder. And most important for me is skincare. I can’t see my pores. Of course they are there but tretioin takes care of make them invisible. Never wear prints n I am to short they. Are me look shorter. I loooove bright colors and always follow the rule complimentaries. Pleas continue with these series so we all know what and how to apply makeup and how to dress. Thank you. 🥰🥰🥰

I had to laugh while watching this. I work in TV/film. Every time you said "unless on film / studio lights". I can't tell you the number of times a makeup artist has been doing my makeup and said "well, for this part - you would not be too glamourous" and then proceeded to put a bold highlight / bright lipstick, etc. It is really true what translates on film is so much more muted. But of course, we are half blind a good deal of the time by the lights on set, especially if it is night and they are using lights to make it day 🙂

I do like animal prints, but I understand that's not for everyone...As a woman in her sixties, I don't mind looking "older", because I am older. Older can (should) be good! Wonderful presentation! You are so charming and I laughed a lot about the nude lipsticks 🤣😂 It's true that sometimes the wrong color can make us look as if we've been sick. These kind of greyish nudes are trendy in the States. I love that French women choose healthy looking nude colors. I've always liked the nude lipsticks that you wear. Yes!! I have friends who are light/fair. It’s usually my friends who are white. And they love these purpley Greyish toned neutrals. And it always makes their complexion look so dull. Whenever I tried to tell them, they assumed I was “hating”. So I was like whatever 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love your orange top, Angela! Agree about animal prints, although, if kept to a pair of shoes or a belt, it may be ok. Yes, less is more as we get older. I’m 63 and if your skin is in good shape you will naturally require less makeup. A pop of color on the lips always looks fresh and flattering. The only ones who can pull off lots of eye makeup and a nude lip are the young ones.

Really interested video- thank you so much for shared ☺️ about powder and concealer- I’m 42 years old and I highly recommend this 2 products from Sisley - Blur Expert powder and PHYTO-CERNES ECLAT Concealer - they are pricey but they are worth any penny in same time they are efficient cosmetics- I’m buying one concealer for a year and using 365 days per year. I don’t need to use foundation and this combo from Sisley is perfect for mature skin which is sensitive, really light- cool undertones & normal to dry ☺️

As for fashion, agree with you about leisure style as well, it feels and looks lazy, I understand the comfort with our busy life, but it does not look good. I will correct you though, "monochromatic" doesn't just mean basics like all black or neutrals like all beige you mentioned, it can be a brighter colour or any colour, except the outfit will be all in that colour but can be different shades of it, so a look in red shade or all green for instance is also a monochromatic look 😃

I've found that a very thin, watery foundation with HIGH pigment plays better with lines and wrinkles. Chanel has a few good ones. I wear the lumiere velvet! I wouldn't recommend it for very dry skin, though. I find that anything greasy or thick will settle in those lines and emphasize them.

I totally agree about staying away from pale nude lipsticks. As I age I have noticed I need a lot more color in my lipsticks and I have noticed that women who are my age do not look good in nudes. In the USA, esp, people are still into the nude lips and I think some older women think because it has been a trend among the young that it will make them look young, but it does the opposite. I also agree about the leopard prints and animal prints- I have seen many older women try to use those as a way to look younger or more edgy but it backfires. I'm not sure I agree about jewelry, however, because I would say it depends on the type of jewelry. You look very beautiful in those colors, by the way.

Don't apologize for comments you feel may be offensive to Americans. It is helpful to understand the European point of view when trying to elevate your style. Hoodies and work out clothes as a daily outfit are in my opinion very tacky, but at least people aren't wearing pajama bottoms to go out, which was a big trend not too long ago

Powder: instead of concealern I powder under my eyes with a dedicated eyeshadow brush. that little bit of some thing makes me look fresh & the shadow brush prevents build up in my fine lines. Not a fan of Blush, Brozer all the way but then I am Half Italian 😎💋
