I used conductive paint from Bare Conductive with MaKey MaKey to make paintings of musical notation that you can play. The software making the sounds is called SoundPlant.

This is amazing! I was looking for ideas to do with the kids at our event in May with the pair of Makey Makey that we just received. This is now on the list. Thank you for this, the video and the product itself. I CAN CHANGE THE WORLD! (and so can the kids that will be creating these paintings.)

I would love to see other people making musical paintings! In this case I re-mapped the makey makey to get more inputs, and used soundplant for the sounds. Hopefully I'll get a tutorial together for this soon- I'll put it on the MaKey MaKey forums.

Question, did you upload the sounds you made as MP3 files or as MIDI files onto the PCB? And do you still have them for download, the sounds you used specifically. Thanks!

Hi Eric! this project is fantastic, thank you for uploading it! I'm planning on doing some makey makey project with my students for our upcoming holiday camp because it seems alot of fun. could you please share the instructions to build this musical paint? what kind of software that you used for producing the painting sounds? Can I use normal paint instead of conductive paint?

Where do you get conductive paint from?

The company I got conductive paint from is called Bare Conductive. There are other ways to get it. another site I've used is called lessEMF. There's also a new conductive ink pen called the Circuit Scribe that works great with MaKey MaKey. If you look around for a tutorial you might even be able to make your own conductive paint.
