I just used my first forge yesterday, it is a brake drum forge using coal. The first thing I forged was a pair of tongs, and I am so happy with them. I cant wait to continue to practice and make a business one day making and selling my creations. You have been a huge motivator through all of this and I appreciate everything you do.

Hi Alec, this is my first comment on your page. But I have been an instant fan since the first video of yours years ago. This video is no exception, absolutely loved it! Hopefully you can tell by the vast majority of the comments, that you have a massive loyal fanbase, one that has been hard earned each step of the way. You deserve all the success you have, and will have, because you have earned every part of it. I'm from Montana, and when I saw that you were moving to the US, and then I saw the Montana flag in the back, and the Bridger mountains, I actually ran into the other room to tell my wife “Alec moved to Bozeman!!!” I immediately had to find on the map where you're at, as I know the area well. I actually was driving through there a couple months ago, and was going to stop at your shop and say hi, but it was a Sunday morning, and didn't want to bother you, and wasn't sure if anyone would be around. I feel motivated to write this comment, just to address some of the naysayers that I see on the comments for this video. I think they well illustrate what is wrong with the vast majority of the last few generations. Anyone who would criticize someone who has worked so hard, for so long, earning every follower and platform that they have, to criticize any part of that earned success,-really speaks to why so many of them will never be successful in any aspect of their life. I study (industrial) product design and it was really fun and inspiring to me to see Alec actually go through the process of designing a product pretty much the exact way i would for a project at school!

I just thought of a brilliant way to make these germaphobe device quite quickly, less work, prettier. I may send you a picture from the forge if I get time to play in it this weekend! What I would do for a welder lol.

Now make a elegant Germ-Hook that can be used as a brass knuckle for self-defence and sell it on your website. I definetly would buy one.

That was a fantastic video on what goes into something like this. What you need is some apprentices! Have them knock those things out. You make money and get the opportunity to expand. They get to learn, access to a pro shop, and maybe make a little bit of money.

Alec, that was probably the most practical, informative, and industrious video I have seen on your channel. This is considering that I've been a sub since before you were building shelves for your microwave. Very well done.

I was really captivated by this video. Alec’s editing, storytelling and enthusiasm is always extremely compelling. This video though was so well done as a viewer as we go through the journey. Was it blatant product placement for squarespace, yes and I don’t care one bit. Keeping making Alec. Happy to follow you in the workshop any day. Next product launch: 2”x2” Damascus cube. I’d buyit if it was handmade by Alec. Do I have a use for it? No, but it would be cool.

I keep a hammer next to my PC too just to remind it who’s boss.

My cnc plasma table would cut one of those out in about 20 to 25 seconds.

I'm not sure if you are planning to make more of these (but I can hope). But if you are, two suggestions. 1)Make some with a two-finger slot. I broke my left pointer when I was younger, and it hurts like hell to use the cheap door pull I have. Usually I just use my right hand, but depending on the door and what I am carrying, that isn't always viable. I think a two finger version to split the load would help. 2) Make damascus? I'm not sure how viable this is (only being an armchair smith myself), but I'm thinking a one each of 15N20 and 1080, and then twist them both for pattern and to draw and round into the rod shape. Just a nice simple spiral damascus on these would pop. I'm not sure what that would do to the time and thus price, but I'd easily pay 3 or 4 times as much for that.

For everyone criticising due to his followers or his shop, etc.: he literally started this business when he was 16... Doing exactly what he did in this video. Not only did he show you how to make a grand... He gave you all the insight you need to get the shop, the following and hone your skills to do a similar thing yourself.

But how do you account for the years of building a social media presence in order to get these sales?

I totally missed this sale, so I really bummed about that. However, I am super impressed with this challenge and the amount of work you accomplished in 12 hours. Also, Squarespace is lucky to have an ad like this one, it really goes to show how easy the platform is to use. For business people, such as yourself, taking the management of your website out of the equation is essential. Excellent work!👍

Challenge suggestion. Cave troll challenge. 1. Design something without inspiration or any outside sources aside from your brain No devices other than paper and pen, or whatever you do to draw like a cad. Bonus points Empty room Low light Or if you're crazy and know someone with a sensory deprivation chamber that's 1,000 points. This is pure imagination, and I think it would be difficult because it would be similar to writers block if you're stuck.

How to make 1000$ in a day Step one: have a massive workshop to make big quantities of product Step two: have a masssive social media following

As a future project, can I suggest building a gyrocopter? It's a whole new set of smithing techniques to challenge you. You'll need to collaborate with an experienced builder, and a gyro pilot.
