Advice for applying: apply to as many schools as you can that you are even remotely interested in attending to give yourself the best chance of getting in and so you can compare schools. Something I wish I did differently during law school: I wish I got involved and pursued everything I was interested in, and didn't do things just because I felt like I have to. I joined a law journal in law school and I really shouldn't have because I wasn't super interested in it. I also wish I would have spent more time getting to know my classmates and professors. Kind of hard because of the pandemic, but I could have done more networking my 1L year when I was in person. Personal statement: Write about what makes you unique and something that makes you who you are. I had a traumatic experience when I was 18 that I wrote about. I used that to explain that I want to be able to advocate for victims and use my voice to represent the voiceless. You personal statement doesn't have to be connected to law, but if it does that's great! I'm happy to read your personal statement if you email it to me etc2134@columbia.edu
