I believe it came from the 5.0 that was in the early gallardo Edit: after further research, the original 07k was designed first, then they designed the 5.0 based on it. When they designed the 5.2 to replace the 5.0, they utilized some of the technology from the newly designed 5.2 in the newer 07k evo, which is the newer 07k variant.

James Kramer I’m actually trading this car in tomorrow for a 2016 GLI. Fair warning...if you haven’t started modifying, then I wouldn’t do anything beyond an exhaust and maybe lowering springs and some rims. You won’t make the money back on the car, and the 2.5 isn’t a good platform for mods. It’s not a bad car, just be wary of how much you spend and where you spend it.

This was a VW dealer, but I was shocked they actually sold the car, and didn’t just send it to auction.

Ronark The key with the Jetta is to keep the cat. I briefly had mine off and honestly I think it lost that unique sound, it ended up sounding like a raspy V6. If I were you I’d go stock cat, and then straightpipe from there. I ran that setup and it was still plenty Loud and sounded awesome but it wasn’t so loud you couldn’t get used to it. There are videos on magnaflows if you wanna check those out, it would still sound decent but I’d recommend my setup.

Ronark just throw on vibrants “ultra quiet” resonator... it’s not gonna silence the car a ton, just change the tone deeper and get rid of interior drone. Instead of a standard bottle resonator it’s got a larger body, but it’s still smaller then a muffler. It’s kind of in between a muffler and resonator. My friend had one on his 2.5L rabbit which had headers and a high flow cat to a bottle resonator, it was way to loud. So he put that “ultra quiet” resonator on it as well, was still pretty loud but really brought out the rumble from the 5 cylinder at low rpm’s and got rid of interior drone completely

Not a wrap, it was dipped with Halo EFX, but since sold the car. I’ve seen wrapped ones tho, if you do enough research I’m sure you can find the cuts.

If you are patient and DIY, yeah I’m sure you could but you wouldn’t want to - the gases from the exhaust would vibrate against the bumper and you’d feel it in the cabin and it would blacken the area above it.

Paulo Lopez So this setup was stock cat, to a Borla resonator to a straightpiped mid to a Borla rear muffler. But I recommend also straightpiping the rear muffler, it adds a lot more sound and is way more aggressive, I did that a few weeks ago and am way happier with it.

Yeah my friend disconnected my cat a few months ago and we drove it for like 20 minutes just to see all it had to offer, and I honestly didn't love the sound it was too raw. I think these cars should be loud but they have such a unique exhaust note, the sound should be refined through some sort of exhaust. Personally my favorite setup is the USP downpipe with the AWE track exhaust

But I’m not really up to speed with the Jetta scene anymore, it’s just my car for 2 more moths and then I’m trading it for an ecoboost or a GTI.

Borla cat-back exhaust, with one of the mufflers deleted. Borla exhaust has a resonator, a mid muffler, and the rear muffler - in this video I straight piped where the Borla mid muffler was.

@@colbyjk so I’m not exactly sure what I want to do but I’m planning on getting a 2012 Jetta next year in about April I want it to be loud I like loud so would straight piping it and then add a certain muffler to it be worth it cuz I don’t want it to sound like poo but I want it to be like DAAAAAAAAMN kinda loud cuz I won’t have the money for a whole performance exhaust setup and the sound of straight pipe is great I think anyways but I feel as if it might get irratating I’m not really sure yet anyways I’m hoping it’ll pop as well any suggestions on a muffler I’d seen Magna Flow was good and a cherry bomb but it’s cheap so idk how it’ll hold up but eventually I’m gonna add a cold air intake which means I’m gonna have to get it Dyno tuned so the car doesn’t die 😂

Eric Landry It is the resonator that comes with the Borla cat-back exhaust, so not the stock resonator. But when I deleted the mid muffler in this video, I didn’t touch the res.

Not paint, a “covert black” liquid wrap from Halo EFX. They don’t exist anymore (I dont think) but it was basically a professional grade plasti dip, my dad sprayed cars as a side hobby for about 3 years.

Haha I appreciate the sub but don’t have this car anymore so don’t expect any content on it (or anything else, I rarely upload). So, the setup is stock cats, and a Borla cat-back exhaust, but in the Borla there are 2 mufflers, I removed the “2nd muffler” which is not the rear one with the tips but it’s in the middle of the car. So stock cat, Borla resonator, then straightpipe to a Borla rear muffler.

Yo Y Yo Yeah I could see that. It’s clearly not a V10, but if you go into it expecting a V10 sound, I think it’s easy to hear it. Especially if you accelerate in 2nd or 3rd and slowly hear it rev up.

Hard to say since this was me modifying an existing exhaust kit from Borla. If I were you, just take it to a shop and have them delete both mufflers and the resonator on the stock exhaust, that’ll be like $300 or so I’d imagine, maybe less, and will achieve a similar sound.

Ranger x Turbo Uhh..the 2.0T hands down. It’s a reliable motor and much cheaper and easier to tune. The 2.5 sucks for performance, and it’s expensive to make fast and yeah the gains are weak. The only reason to justify the 2.5 would be for the awesome sound with an exhaust, but if you are trying to go fast it’s basically impossible. It’s enough to get around town and daily drive but not what I’d call exciting or thrilling,

Video looks terrible, had I known it would get this many views, I’d have re uploaded it or re-made it, but by the time the video got traction I’d already sold the car and deleted the footage.

Probably, each state is different but the catalytic converters stay stock so you should be fine. Put it this way, if it were illegal, I’d take my chances with this exhaust. It’s when you don’t run cats that things get dicey.

Marlon Oriley Actually did try it briefly, with and without cats after I left for school. Straight pipe from the cat back sounded nice but was too loud on the highway. Straight piping the entire exhaust didn’t sound good at all.

Do you mean you put a turbo on a 2.5 Jetta..idk anyone whose done that without building an exhaust out with a downpipe first? If you haven’t done that, then these cars aren’t turbo, they are N/A Automatic or manual doesn’t matter for an exhaust. On this car I modified a Borla exhaust. This is Borla’s catback exhaust for the MKV Jetta 2.5, I took the mid muffler out of the Borla. None of the exhaust on this car besides the downpipe/cat’s was stock. My cats and downpipe WERE stock. Just get a muffler/res delete if you currently have a stock exhaust. It’ll sound meaner and better than this, the 2.5 screams with no mufflers. I didn’t know much about cars when I did this, so I bought the Borla and had to deal with it, but the Borla got boring over time, too quiet. If i knew then what I know now, I’d have just done a muffler/resonator delete back then and never spent the $$ on the Borla.

@@greatcesarsghost Yes, do that. Get rid of the stock exhaust and run as much straight pipe as you think you can handle. It will sound louder and probably better than this Borla did, if I had known more about exhausts 5 years ago when I did this, I would have straight piped and never gone Borla.

Lol idc about the 2.5 crowd anymore, I sold this car years ago and stepped up to a tuned Mk6.5 GLI. Turbo, DSG, and European suspension sold me. I always thought the best exhaust setup on these was AWE’s kit, never heard of anyone doing Vibrant, but I know they do build nice resonators so I’m sure it’s a good exhaust - 3 inch always is better, the Borla I had was 2.5

@@colbyjk I feel you man I’m rebuilding this engine that has 64k for turbo gonna built built like new rods pistons with lower compression for turbo exhaust valves the whole 9 yards. But yeah I like AWE I was going to buy their Exhaust system but it’s always better to go custom. For example me I live in FL I went to this guy Gexhaust I told him I wanted the AWE but if he could make it more aggressive and he told me it’s dumb to but abs cut a nice exhaust when he can just make it sound louder using Vibrant. Give the exhaust shop a follow Gexhaust you’ll love all the work these guys do they’re fuckin AWEsome

German depreciation, man! In 2016 I paid $10,000 for this car, 2010 Jetta S, 6 speed auto with 97,000 miles. The 2010 was the best year, it had the MK6 interior and MK6 horsepower bump to 170 but the MK5 small size, handling, and higher build quality, but even with that mine was a base S and if I’d known more about Jettas when I got it, probably wouldn’t have paid what I did.

Oh ok, we’ll still man that’s a steal even with the repairs for what the car offers out of the box. I’d pay 6k for my 2010 today. Mine was from a dealer so it had no issues, besides the door lock problems those cars had and a slight oil leak from the rear main seal that I never fixed. I put 17,000 miles or so on it in the 3 years I owned it and aside from replacing the brake calipers for $1000 never had to do anything but tires and oil changes. Though funny enough the dealer I traded it to when I got my GLI said right after they took it the AC went out also! But my car had sparco wheels, a Borla exhaust, a CarPlay unit, upgraded headlights and so they fixed it and sold it.

@@colbyjk is it a 2.5? You know that theres a vacuum pump oil leak that is commonly mistaken for the rear main leaking? Was leaking on this car. I couldnt find the gasket so i got some right stuff 90 min gasket maker and it doesnt leak anymore. Worth a look. Easy fix. Theres videos on here on it and its a really easy fix. Just a plate w 4 bolts

Chris Nicholas You can’t make the 2.slow any faster without spending more than the car is worth. In other words, you can’t make it faster. And this was a liquid wrap, not paint. And this car is no “testament to German engineering”. It was built in Mexico, has torsion beam rear suspension, had hubcaps on the base model, and the acceleration is equivalent to a 2005 Honda Pilot. So, to that end, I traded it in for a 2016 GLI.

Ehh oddly enough once it was loud I actually drove it easier, didn’t like having un-wanted attention. I appreciated the louder start up and opening it up on emptier stretches of road but 90% of the time I drove it like any other non-enthusiast would drive a base Jetta.

Jarret Hickman Ehh it’s alright. I drove the manual, a 5speed was sort of old school. And the car is mostly used to go to the store, drive to school, commute on I-5 between school and home every few weeks, plus the tiptronic is good enough for as often as I wanna drive a Jetta sporty. Plus resale value on the manual sucks.
