I have a 1" x 42" sander ( Craftsman) like your Mead. When the belt would break, it could slap you in the face. It was violent!. The upper pulley boom had way to much free travel when it was in the triangle configuration, and the belt broke. It would flip up like a mousetrap. I installed a small chain from the mast to the upper boom with about 1/2" of free play in case the belt broke. Works a lot better now. By the way, Mr. Pete, I love your videos and I hope you make 1000 more!

Im 59 but youre never too old too learn and youre one of my fav. YT teachers. Ive got a 1980's or so Delta belt/disc table sander with motor problems I need to address, the motor is inside the base as well as proprietary and no longer available so might be a bit of a challenge but hey thats where the fun is right-? So I’m collecting the bits to make this. Dug out the motor, turns out it’s a flange type from a garbage disposal, lol weighs 6 tonnes so it’s going to have some gravity. Actually found two aluminium wheels that are narrower than what you have used but I think it should be ok. Might have to get creative with the upper wheel. The boss or hub whatchmacallit, is a bit small for a bearing recess to be turned into it. But I’ll come up with something!

Oh man I can empathize about the insomnia - been that way since I was a kid and it's terrible - have to take a handful of benadryl to have any chance But hey I doubt u recall about several videos back I asked a question about my logan 200 the backgear being stuck, or seized rather, and u told me u never heard of that and good luck lol Well I'm happy to report I've finally got it freed up and the logan is working now and seems to be fully functional It's a little rough around the edges - had some fairly dispicable damage to the compound from a crash - it was in a school for many years so I'm sure u can imagine

Mr. Pete, For decades I had trouble sleeping until I started taking melatonin with L-theanine mixed in with it. I sleep like a baby, and there is no grooginess the next morning. Just thinking about that back section of the base. What if you didn't cut off that welded on section but turned your pillow... er, I mean the piece upside down, so the part sticking out is at the bottom? It could fit under/inside the channel of the base where it could be bolted or welded in place. Then add a right angle bracket or triangle at the top of the end plate. This would add rigidity to the top pulley arm and give you the horizontal base feature without reworking existing parts of the project.

Mr. Pete, have you ever been checked for sleep apnea? It's a problem with some sleepers that they wake up at certain times at night to catch your breath, you actually stop breathing. I have sleep apnea and stop breathing about thirty times an hour. So I use a CPAP machine to add positive pressure air to my breathing by a mask so when I stop breathing this keeps my oxygen level normal until the auto system of my body starts breathing again. I sleep like a log now and have been using it every night for about 16 years. Good luck, I enjoy your videos and teachings.

Would have been very cool to have drilled a series of 3/16 holes to break the part along that line rather than cutting it off. Weld in a couple small gussets. Still, love the series and there are a million ways to do everything.

@@mrpete222 hmmmm, about ever inch. Would bend along the line easily. Great for a shop like most of us who do not have a box break. Looking forward to the finish. I'd really like to build my own.

Dear Mr. Pete222 Have you ever heard of a "Huot" drillorganizer tool bo? Matt Cremona in his weekly update showed one he bought. This tool bo is really very unique and awesome. Just wondering if your familiar with this brand? :-)
