I'm not sure but if you have a walmart in your country they have "great value baby wet wipes" and with a few squirts of palmolive dishsoap fragrance free soap or a dish scrubby with palmolive on it will usually take off color stains on hands I know unfortunately by having my daughter decide she wanted to paint herself with permanent markers or tie dye once when I thought we could do a cute shirt proget she decided to stick her hands in them....kids they move fast, little did I know she was just a artist waiting to find her canvas...thank you again fir these videos, I'm watching so many different artist thru put this world I'm so truly amazed at peoples skills...mikelle newyork usa mom waiting for my birthday so I can justify a few new items to start a hat...😷👍🕵️‍♀️

@@ICotty9165 I remember the first hat I ever made for myself (wedding hat, plus dress, plus shoes, plus bag, all made to match (in the early 80s long gone), the first I ever made for someone else, a crownless brim made in matching dress fabric for ascot ( in the 80s) again long gone, and the first I sold online which as far as I know is still in the USA

Hi great video! Could I use this method on a halo block with the same straw hood? I've already steamed it a bit to stretch over the block. I will have to cut it to be able to pin. Could I soak the straw in water and paint on pva when ready and pinned on block. I do this for sinamay always, . Not used to this straw! Would your method be better for this hood? I'm rearing to try x

I love this style! As a beginner, I would like to buy 2 blocks. 1 each of my favorite styles. However, Which one do you recommend for a beginner?
@SHMillinery
@SHMillinery 3 жыл бұрын
I always advise just buying a basic dome shape crown block in your size, you can always adjust on the block into different shapes and styles. Buying a complicated shape can be tricky when starting out :)

Wow. This was brilliant and what a gorgeous hat. I love hats, but sadly the feeling is not mutual lol. I want to look like the sophisticated romantic lead in a vintage movie. I put a hat on and I end up looking like the megalith mother-in-law nobody likes. However, I do many crafts professionally and make silk (and other) flowers. I have a KZfaq channel in the works (not craft) and am making clothes. I like vintage items so I have cast aside my sad, humiliating hat history to try my hand at basic millinery. I thought, perhaps, I could get away with half hats and headband style pieces, decorated with silk flowers. I would not be able to produce hats as a professional does, but research tells me some items can be bought further down the chain. I have seen readymade teardrop pieces etc. I have recently got my paws on a bargain job lot of straw hats. I am exploring the possibilities of dyeing and....well, that's as far as I've got. Thank you for the great video.

That's for the kind words. Find the right style and shape for yourself can be a lot of trial and error, but there's a hat out there for everyone! Yes there are a lot of ready made bases etc that you can embellish, and some of my videos do help.

You can, 2 layers are best and as you will be fitting flat material to the curve, you will need small pleats around the very edge to hug the block
