@@RagnBoneBrown that had me giggling a lot, I'm glad it's not just me that sometimes has the meaning of words confused. I remember when I was little, I use to look out for the big plants crossing the roads, (I had something like a triffid in my head without knowing what a triffid was), you can imagine my disappointment on discovering that it was heavy machinery they were talking about when they said "Heavy Plant Crossing!" on signs.

A couple of quick questions. Did you use a specific type of ply for this? And what wood glue would you recommend? (particular brand etc) thanks.
@cjhification
@cjhification 3 жыл бұрын
@@dydod Keith tends to use polyurethane glues (ever build or gorilla are brands that work) at this time of the year, due to the cold temperatures, or ever build 502 when it's warmer, both would be plenty strong enough.

Nice toy, and great for balancing skills. The kid loves it. The adult version is called a "rola bola", a flat board perched on top of a tube (I use a PVA plastic drain pipe). The rola bola is a lot more dangerous to use, but much easier to make.

another sheet of ply would be enough, I think!
@SteifWood
@SteifWood 3 жыл бұрын
@@RagnBoneBrown I used 3 sheets of 4 mm ply for some chair seats I made. My experience with the 3rd layer was that I needed a lot of force and had to make a set of extra battens to be able to bend the curve (the raw seat is 60x70 cm and the bend is about 70 mm in the middle). Besides the extra effort bending a 3rd layer, using fiber/poly would also keep the weight down, which might be a good selling argument. All in all, I love such smart "inventions" as you did here, and it definitively manifests your position in the Makers community.

These are also very good for injury rehabilition. I tore a calf muscle really badly yearsago nd part of my rehab was to use a flat wooden wobble board with a half ball shape underneath to re-learn balance. Also, my son had a doubel hip oeration last year and we had to buy him a rubber wobble board (circlular with rounded top and bottom) to help him strengthen his hips, towards the end of his rehabilation. The one I had to use was quite different to this one, so I might make one myself, to show what it looked like.

In the UK, anything you can make for small people, seems to be expensive! Baby tax = "ah you're having a baby, that will be double the price", a bit like wedding tax, where the cost seems to quadruple as soon as you say your getting married.
