I just found your channel Tom and very impressed and I loved the comment on a flat screen tv and your right who needs that crap on a sailboat ⛵️ but I subscribed and I’m going to do some ketchup on your videos and I bought a Great Dane 28’French built boat sitting in st. Mary’s Georgia and I’m about to embark on a journey, thanks Tom for your very knowledgeable information from a old salty sailor ⛵️👍

My boat also came vith a flatscreen. Wife loves it. I hate it. But i compromise,,, I need the upper hand on other matters (I'm sure it'll be broken one day🤞)

Same here. We also watch SV Impavidus on it. Stops the crew mutinies if stuck waiting out weather for a week too.

There's much to learn from looking at your saloon and surrounds, Tom. Memorable words indeed, not looking like a skiing shed or workshop, not slumming it and not watching [f*##$] TV. Lighting which can alter brightness and colour temperature, oil lamps and giving the eyes a rest from summer harshness. The table is a masterpiece that does not look like a caravan or motel feeding station. The soft furnishings are just right. I hope a build happening at the moment takes a few clues! There nothing like experience and taste.

I've been aboard your boat Tom when I met you and Roz just after you had it delivered and you were in the Hamble. It's a fabulous yacht with all the right things in the right place as I'd expect from you. And yes I signed the visitors book ...

Love your boat, it has a lovely feel about it ,warm and cozy. I have some added touches that I like on mine that are unique and warm ,these little add ons make me happy .

Well from the name of my channel you won't doubt that I share your thoughts wholeheartedly Tom. We have a Westerly Konsort which I'm pleased to say the previous owners, of which there has been but two, made her very cosy below. She's lacking an oil lamp though which I intend to remedy before she dips her keels in the water this year.

I know every boat takes some work to make it your own, but now I’m a little more aware of what possibilities and ideas to consider when looking at a particular boat 👍🏻

Had my Francis Kinney 37 for about 4 years now. Given her numerous upgrades. Being a newbie to boat owning and sailing I thought I might be doing things wrong... but having watched your channel I feel I'm on the right track!! Same thought process as you! Captain, keeping your boat warm is one thing, keeping it warm & dry is another. What's your secret for keeping the cool hulls interaction with the warm air from staining that beautiful varnish?

Your boat looks wonderful, truly a home on the ocean. I totally agree with you. But i think it's important to use the boat a bit in all sorts of conditions between the moment your idea of personalization or improvement appears before you execute the project, you need at least to consider, in harbor / at anchor, pleasant sailing, rough conditions and by all means also consider the times your mother in law is onboard. One thing though, I noticed that you had what looked like a very nice brass oil lamp over your saloon table. Could you make any recommendations as to where I could look for something similar? I have enjoyed your videos immensely and a great story teller. I have never seen sailor's use night vision binoculars is there a reason? Also what power do you recommend using aboard?

I applaud you, no flat screen TV, I won't have one in my house let alone boat. Your boat is lovely but I prefer a more work boat come military style. All the the ones of the boat I'm now hoping to buy are the same style as yours and it doesn't suit my neo scruffy life style, and I'm to old to start major modifications..

I would have liked to have seen the cooking facilities (galley?), bedroom and toilet facilities as well. I find it difficult to grasp how they all fit in.

A TV on a yacht is an abomination. Personally I have a photo of the Fastnet for that position. Would like to know more about the stove and what fuel it uses

I am shopping for a new boat and every time I see a TV below I say to myself " That has to go first" Get me right I do not mind a nice large monitor on my Nav station but a TV ? Really?

Learn from Mr. Cunliffe... it's called a "saloon", not a "salon" as most people seem to want to call it these days. People seem to associate "saloons" with bars, but all "saloon" actually means is "gathering place".
