Your efforts are very beneficial for yourself, the Church, the general public and all of the Catholics and Christians who are frustrated by the horrible decline in morals in modern society. I'm a Catholic Grandma and we always had a home altar when our children were growing up . It changed with the Liturgical year . We held our family devotions there and still do with the grands ! you did a lovely job on your altar !

Having a home Altar is awesome! I have one with a large statue of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the middle and other candles and smaller statues. Maybe I’ll share it on KZfaq in the future:)

It's so amazing to be able to get to know someone who lives, believes and loves the same things I do, but very far away!

Loving this idea so much, I’m now scanning my house to see where I can create my own. These videos are so encouraging to me as all the practising Catholics in my family have now passed away (the last being my great-aunt last week aged 91). Great idea with the photos. When I go to funerals I save the holy cards with the persons name on the back. It reminds me to pray for their soul.

Thank you Heather for this video. I always wondered if the alter I use to have was ok. I always had the curiosity about other people's home alters. Just to see if I was missing something that should be on there. I love the idea of adding pictures of family members that need prayer. I'm going to pray that God helps me find a little table, that I could use as my home alter. Please keep making videos. I don't think you are realizing how many lives you are touching. Some times we can doubt ourselves when it comes to our spiritual lives and we might not have a friend or ppl in our lives that can help guide us in a sweet and loving way. You Heather are that friend to a lot of us. I as a spiritual friend ask that you continue serving the Lord as he is asking you to do so. These videos are not a mistake, they are helping to guide and inspire us to persevere in growing in our faith and spiritual lives. Giving us mothers, ideas, hope and encouragement in our vocations. Brilliant to see a renewal of this Devotional. In my grandmother's and great-grandmothers time there were altars in every Catholic home in Scotland - but now very very few. Also, my grandmother told me that the use of the Brown Scapular was discontinued as the fashions for ladies changed when clothes were designed to show the neckline. Lovely to see such a lovely young lady being SO devout - God Bless You!

I was inspired to create an alter after this video and hearing that a friend who’s Christian but not Catholic made one. I’m trying to go through Catechism after many rebukes from the evil one. And after my alter I can feel the presence of Mary here after praying the rosary and making an alter to God. I think our home should be godly and an alter is a great addition to that! Many pagans and other religions have alters to their false beliefs, so why not have a Godly alter dedicated to prayer with Christ and his family in mind, an inspiration for everyone and a good thing! 🕊️✝️🙏📿💗

The timing for this is perfect! In our last several homes we have had an altar but haven’t set one up since we moved. Right now we’re moving rooms around and this morning I found a perfect spot! So this is timely! Thank you for another beautiful post!

What a wonderful idea in having a separate table for your altar (as I use a section of my bookcase). Your altar has a beautiful design. I thought I’d share a suggestion, I was told many years ago from an older lady in my Bible study group I was in at the time. She mentioned the importance of keeping the Bible open at home. She said something along the lines that the Bible is living. It contains the living Word of God. Therefore, having it open keeps His Word alive. His Word is not shut away. I forget the exact words, but it made sense at the time and so I keep the Bible open (at a random page mostly) on my altar. I have a few Bibles I’ve collected, so I just keep one open only (and I must say the others do stay shut, as I don’t have the room to have them all open, but hopefully God understands). Thank you for sharing your altar : )

I really like the idea of the basket of prayers you can pull out.

I absolutely loved your altar. An item you may want to add is a small lace table runner just to dress it up a little(just a thought) If you have little ones at home They can make their own little altars using little dashboard statues and some battery operated candles. My mom let me do that when I was a kid and I'm proud to say I'm still Catholic. You have a beautiful family,be assured I will keep them in my prayers. God bless you and yours always Daniel

Hey Heather! Great video as always! Love your shrine...shows off your creative and devotional aptitudes! Unfortunately, something I just read has left me feeling a bit depressed and perturbed. Just by chance, I happened to read the comment you posted on Lizzie’s video about the ill manner in which you are being treated on your channel. That comment of yours REALLY got me feeling angry and sad. Now I know that as a Christian, I shouldn’t hate; however, I can’t help but to LOATHE those people who are mean to those who deserve it the least! For example, I can’t tolerate anyone being unkind to wonderful individuals such as yourself! You are beyond a doubt amongst the sweetest, gentlest, and most pious souls in the KZfaq universe! The one thing that had crushed my soul was when I read was how dispiriting and disheartening that this KZfaq experience has been for you……… to the point where you said that you were considering throwing in the towel altogether and quitting this whole KZfaq business. PLEASE PLEASE PLEAAAAAAAAAAASE DON’T QUIT! I may not be a KZfaqr myself, so I won’t even try to pretend to know what it feels like getting hate on one’s own channel…especially considering the time and effort that you put into it…and trust me………I’m sure that being a mum of four children, that is time that you can ill afford to whittle away!!! Whilst I may not know how it feels like to get KZfaq hate, I know how it feels like to be bullied. I’ve been the victim of severe bullying in high school, and I think that this is the cause of my almost non-existent self-esteem. I think that the one (or perhaps only) good thing to come out of that experience is that now, as an adult, I really don’t care what people think or say about me. I only value the opinions of those that I know love and care about me, and those that have my own best interests at heart. Heather: I know that you don’t know me from Adam, and therefore, these words are likely meaningless to you… but I just feel compelled to say (as I did in my previous comment) that you exude an unadulterated aura of kindness, compassion, piety, and an all-around loving personality via your KZfaq videos. That is why you comment to Lizzie got me so depressed. It always seems that the bullies naturally target specific KZfaq personalities of your calibre. They mistake a kind, sweet, and reverent soul as someone who is weak and therefore ‘easy pickings’. Just know this: bullies, trolls, and others out there whose mission is to sow discord and hatred naturally target those who are pure of heart, as they know that those types of people are the ones least likely to strike back or to cause any ‘trouble’. I know I said this to you before, but I’ll say it again: your videos brighten my day, and help to nurture my faith. That comment may not sound like much to you, but trust me… as depressed and spiritually starved as I am in my life right now… that comment means a LOT more that you think! So please don’t give up! I love your altar, $35 was a great deal on the beautiful shelf. May I recommend you leave your bible open on the shelf even if you are not using it. , I was once told the bible should be open at all times.

Here back in India, every Catholic home has an altar. on my altar back home I have put up a statue of Sacred Heart of Jesus and statue of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception along with a crucifix beside it and with a long rosary hung across the altar.. I wish I had a prayer room.. I really liked the idea of adding pictures of people whom you want to remember in your prayers. 🙂

I would like to suggest altar cloths with the appropriate color of each season. Also, a small card or photo holder for funeral cards, arranged in chronological order, of family and friends to be prayed for on their anniversary .

That console table is so perfect! I love the idea of the message board where you put pics of people to pray for. I currently use my faux fireplace as my altar. It's the only place in my house where it's in the common area and there is space around it where people can kneel and worship our Lord.

Ohh I love your home altar. Especially having pictures of people you want to pray for. I think that's also good for kids, to visually see who you're praying for. And I also love the box with the different prayer cards, etc. I have many of them in all different kind of places.. now I have an idea on how to organize them :) I am in the process of moving and I will definitely make an home altar!!! I just saw your email to Lizzie and the emotional challenges involved in being faithful to your calling. Remember to be faithful in small things and our Lord will bless you by giving you bigger things. Remember the world hates us because of the name of Jesus the Christ. Very nice. You can also research an icon corner....popular in Russian Orthodoxy. I hand painted three icons for my mom and for my boyfriend. I remember my great grandmother had a home altar in her bedroom, I don't remember everything on there but I do remember she had a statue of Our Lady, some holy water and a wall plate of St Bernadette and Our Lady or Lourdes. I have no idea what happened to the statue but I own the plate.

Your videos are truly inspiring! And your altar is very nice- you gave me an idea where to put my religious items and organize them. Thank you!😊 That's why i subscribed to your channel and liked it each time.😍 i grew up with my mom always praying the Rosary before the altar. So i did the same thing when i had my own room and up to the present time.😊 One thing i have in my altar is the blessed Crucifix right at the center of the altar before anything else so when i kneel to pray my gaze goes first to the crucified Master. It must be home altar day. I'm a brand new Catholic (yay Easter vigil 2018!!!) and literally set up mine today. So...I'll do a video too, thanks for the encouragement and sharing! I've learned a lot from you -- my RCIA covered all the big theology (which was amazing) but things like getting a miraculous medal or the sacred heart of Jesus, I never would have known!

Just subscribed to your channel and you are such an inspiration. I have stopped praying the rosary and reading the holy bible but just recently I found myself having this urge to start praying again. I felt guilty that my holy statues are just gathering dust. I put them out in the drawer and started putting my mini altar. I also bought a Sacre Heart of Jesus, Our Lady of Fatima, St Benedict crucifix and a small St Michael statue. Continue being an inspiration to us. God bless us always.

Lovely idea. My altar is in the far end of a bookcase that sits next to my chair. 6 inches of space that has a picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary plus a candle. I keep my Bible on that shelf too. Since I am the only Catholic in my family (having converted) it is discreet enough for the rest of the family who do not believe (but little do they know - I can still pray for them!)
