Viking Link needs some bling to hold his cloak closed on those cold Texas nights. LOL. In this build I do a little bit of everything, designing, laser cutting, sculpting, molding, casting, gilding, chainmail necklacing (sure that's the words) and lots of sanding. All of that to make a little chain cloak clasp for my Viking Link Cosplay mashup. For this build I used: sculpey, 1/8 inch acrylic sheet, Free Form Air exopy clay, chainmail links, screw eyelets, silicone molding kit, Smooth Cast 300, gold leaf, gilding adhesive, gilding varnish, super glue, acrylic paint pens, spray paint, and some Plaid FX acrylic paints. You may also need the following tools: laser cutter, a Dremel with various bits, clay sculpting tools, and Exacto knife or box cutter. Let me know in the comments below if you would like to see more like this one, from shows, video games, or whatever. Please smack that like button, dropkick subscribe, and share with as many people as possible.

Lol. I released it late yesterday night. The build took longer than expected and we had some really bad storms come through that slowed down the editing process a bit. Glad you liked the build

Looks great. Reds, golds, and bronze play nicely as and under layer of paint also. Plot twist: Nintendo approaches Future Thomas about this cosplay for Zelda the Viking ages.

I typically use black as my underlay but have see the subtle differences from other builders. How cool would some of our favorite video games be in a different historical setting. Instead of remastering old games, I wish they would think about those limitless mashup possibilities

Thanks so much. I'm just trying to learn more every build. It's fun to throw in so many skill into something so small. The devil is in the details.

@@MuchProps I think you absolutely made the right choices in terms of design and aesthetics and it didn't bother me one but that is not historically accurate. This is fantasy/cosplay.

Thanks. I thought this would be a fairly simple build and quickly realized the amount of steps/waiting for materials to set ate up a lot of time. I wanted to do the cloak too in this video. Guess it will have to be its own thing

Jack of all, master of none. 😄 I love learning new skills and techniques, on top of that combining them in different ways to come out with different results. It's crazy how all you life experiences prepare you in ways you don't expect. I made cabinets as a teen that helps with structural builds. I was a butcher in college which helped with carving craft material. As a tennis coach wrapping rackets I know can leather wrap weapons. Being a computer teacher helps me with tech for props. And as an art teacher I am always trying new mediums. Life is full of lessons we don't know we need.

Wow thank you I was just thinking about looking at tutorials to attaching gold foil to a mask and gunpla & your video came up when I opened up KZfaq. Thank you for e awesome build!

Glad it was helpful. Just be aware when you knock off the excess, it turns into glitter and gets everywhere. The luster of gold foil is unmatched by any paint treatment I've tried. So well worth the glitter bomb

Those came out super cool, Thomas! Completely understand the chain mail tedium. Back before I discovered EVA foam, I made two complete chain mail shirts from scratch. Making the rings and cutting them then putting them together. Talking about all the boredoms... Your way was definitely much easier. Thanks for sharing with us!

I have a lot of respect for people who do chainmail. Your hands have to be like vice grips after a while.

you can buy security pins for kilts , make a groove in the back of your brooches and glue them in place with epoxy or so 😊 Edit. Nice job as always 😁

Awesome idea. I will do some searching. I thought velcro but security pin would be a lot more secure and less likely to rip off
