I used 2x4 (Kiln-Dried Douglas Fir Stud) from Lowes to build this work bench. That is the cheapest wood you can buy in North America.
It was very simple to build, I didn't use any fancy joints; I didn't use any nails or screws. Titebond is strong enough hold this softwood bench together very well. So building this bench is just cutting and gluing.
Although they are all softwood, the weight is heavy enough to hold the bench still for most of the tasks.

If you do end up building this exact bench don't glue the top down. Even with the grain oriented the way it is in the top glue-up it needs to be able to expand and contract freely with changes in moisture content through the seasons.

Thank you, John. I didn't really count the time because I can only have a few hours in my garage every weekend. I took me a few weekends to finish the structure, a couple nights to finish the coating and the painting.

Did you fix the wooble leg? I notice the table was rocking. The right front side at 12:13 you can see it. None the less, you did a great job with the table top and clamps.

I was really enjoying this _until you glued the top to the leg assembly_. Other than that great video, good camera angles and lighting and I liked how clearly you showed every step.

@victorhe7200
@victorhe7200 3 жыл бұрын
