Custom Knife Making: The Drop Point EDC knife with a hidden pin construction system.
Thank you for joining me on my channel. Today, we will be making a Drop Point EDC knife, using a hidden pin construction system, to not spoil the laser engraved handle scales. I made this knife using 5mm 5160 steel for the blade, 6mm Carbon Fibre tube for the pins and natural Micarta for the scales. Feel free to use whatever you have available or prefer. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.

Hey what was the oil you used on the handle at the end? Thanks!
@zeemanknives

That is boiled linseed oil...will probably get better results using it on wood than on synthetic material...but it looks good none the less.

What of the scale on the other side? 😂

What do you mean? It looks exactly the same. The piece of micarta gets split in half, one half for each side of the knife...

As a asmr lover I would suggest to duplicate this video without telling and include in its title “asmr version”. It might get more views. Like Florian potter does.

Noticed you drilling holes in the blade on the drill press holding the blade with your bare hands. I WOULD STRONGLY CAUTION ABOUT THIS. I almost lost a thumb when the drill bit grabbed the steel and spun the blade at 2000 rpm into my hand then flew across the garage as I bled all over the place. Eight sutures to sew my thumb resulted so I only drill using a vise or clamped securely now.

Yes this is true, I learned that same lesson a long time ago. You dont really see it on the video, but i always drill on the slowest machine speed. If the drill bit bites into the steel its too slow to spin the blade and stops the chuck from spinning altogether. Also onviously never drill something with a sharp edge.
