Making a Dutch Style Ripple Frame

Here's me surviving a frame building project with limited tools and even more limited woodworking abilities. I love the way frames contribute to the presentation of a painting, and they're a lot of fun to make.
The actual ripple moldings are expertly made by Tom Matthews at ripplemolding.com. His work is the reason my frames came out looking presentable.
Fun fact: my mom and dad attended this performance of the Shosty 7. Bernstein was guest conducting in Chicago in 1988, and my dad went to see it while my mom stayed home to take care of my brother and I, ages 3 and 1. The concert was so good that my parents hired a babysitter so they could both see it the second night. I like to imagine it's their coughs caught on tape.

With all those nice tools I would call myself a woodworker.

Great job. I was hoping to learn how to make the molding itself as I’ve painted a Dutch scene and one of these would be perfect. Gonna have to noodle it out for myself. Cheers

Thanks! I would love to make the molding too, but that’s way above my skill level at this time. Let me know if you come up with something!

Can I ask where you purchased the molding from?

Wonderful work. Question: why the red under the black - does it change the tone of the color?

Thanks! The finish is hand rubbed, revealing some of the red layer in spots and gives it some warmth

Can you explain your painting process? Red then black, shellac, then wax?

I was using red and black milk paint. Hand polishing the black layer reveals some warmth and slight color accents from the red layer. Then Shellac, rubbed down a bit with steel wool, then a thin wax layer. Not the cleanest finish in the world, but I still have a lot to learn. Thanks for watching!

Would you be willing to share your materials? What size router bits, wood, etc? Thanks!

It’s all pine, all router bits and materials I found at Home Depot, so I assume I’m not using all the right tools for the job. But I’m not a real woodworker, just playing around!

That saw looks rigid. And sounds like the nail gun is saying "suck it, suck it".
