Nice! For next time, I suggest "A training machine" - weight lifting - cycling (though it's been done before) - stretching (!!!! found to be a must daily habit) - string pulling/pushing How about a chair - with many handles to pull on I wonder how much electricity a good workout can produce :)

This is a really awesome and useful device. The only thing I would change is the input mechanism. It is much easier to pedal than to hand crank.

Awesome work, Maybe add 2 clamps or a mounting mechanism so there would be no need to hold it. Small pan for oiling the gears. Over voltage protection from the generator? Also somehow avoiding any glue for long lasting setup.

Let’s see what’s happens if you make that magnetic spin barrel. You know the magnets are Opposite of one another and making the barrel spin. Do you think that will work or it’s just too much resistance on the motor?

Please look at the radio control CARS. They have speed gears... From 1st gear, they change to 2nd gear and so on. If you device away of thought. You can include such idea into this. At a certain range of speed, the internal clutch will open and engauge the 2nd gear to make it faster. Also, you can add a small oil bath at the bottom of the big gear.

nice but you didn't list the component list in description and also you didn't explained about the gear box (poly diameter and number of teeth of poly).

Finally someone built a generator with gears. It hurt my brain when Great Scott made a direct drive generator from a hoverboard motor. You can get similar power output from a geared microwave oven motor (the one that spins the plate) even though it's 20 times smaller.

I'm thinking hydro power would be nice for something like this project.

nice but i would like to see one that can put out some serous power something you have to put your back in to not easily move with you fingers. something that can charge a battery to power a kettle or a few lights. IMO something spring loaded would be cool put 5-10 mins of solid cranking in to it an let it discharge over time.
