The vast majority of axes that can be found in the trade today have a Germanic type handle: this is the type of handle found in German, Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon countries. Personally, I don't really like this type of handle, because I find them too long to replace, too constraining: you can't remove the handle without having to destroy it, contrary to Roman type handles (French, Italians, Basques...).
Having broken the handle of my Ochsenkopf axe a few weeks ago, I tried for the first time to replace it, with the means and above all the experience on board. I made a few mistakes, but the result is satisfying, to be followed in time.
For information, one hour passed between the beginning and the end of the creation of this handle.
