Making a Knife from a Saw Blade with Basic Tools

This is my first experience with knifemaking, and I used the tools I had. I didn't have access to a torch for heat treating, so we will see how the edge holds up. I can always heat treat it in the future. A belt sander and grinder would have allowed me to get a much nicer finish on the steel, but after cutting out the whole shape with just a rotary tool, I wanted to use the rotary tool as much as possible for the rest of the project. It is an incredibly useful and versatile tool, as long as you are persistent!

Heating it 1st would soften it to make it easier then just do a edge quench using a butane torch, then anneal.

Metal cutting disk. Grinding stone. Sanding drum. Buffing drum wheel. All that's in a basic kit.

Don't ever buy polishing compound in those litte plastic pots from Ch---, they put a tiny amount of compound in them if any at all just wax, i know from experience, Dialux is a great polishing compound green is exelent for steel finishing. Cool project.
