Making a Leather iPad Case with HIDDEN CLOSURE
We had a request in the comments for a leather ipad case, so we made one! This leather iPad case hand sewn with natural vegetable tanned leather. It is saddle stitched by hand with polyester threads.
This leather ipad case features a very simple hidden closure system that is simply a leather tab tucking into an upside down leather pocket. To spice things up a bit, we dipped into our stash of antique art deco letterpress type to add a bit of flair in an otherwise plain spot on our leather ipad case. Old letterpress type is great to play with on leather, because you can find tons and tons of different designs at flea markets and thrift shops on the cheap! Just make sure to be careful of the wood type, it's possible to use with the Weaver press you've just got to case the leather with water and press slowly and gently!

As always outstanding craftsmanship and presentation. I see this being a woman’s clutch, smaller , hand strap attached. Crossbody straps on it also . There is something about the hammering Health and Happiness

I know this is a older video and chances are good you'll never see this comment, but what I like most of your channel is your use of house hold items to shape your projects. I'm sure you have more leather crafting tools, gadgets and gages but you use an old thread to round corners and an old paint can to shape your designs. You give the viewer the impression that they too can do the project and with practice or time, the result could be similar to yours. Thanks for this!

Hey, what’s the weight of the leather you’re using? Does Weaver split it for you when you purchase (or maybe if their sponsoring you, “receive”) it?
@Corter
@Corter 5 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is 4/5oz Hermann Oak veg tan, Weaver sells it in almost any weight possible from 2oz to 12. They do also have a splitting service if you want to use leather that comes in heavier weights, we usually have them cut a hide into 12" strips then run 2-3oz and 4-5oz so that we get multiple weights from one hide, it's usually only $20 or so in splitting fees :)

how well will glue only hold the leather together without sewing. If you didnt want the look of stitches? Thanks for sharing
@Corter
@Corter 5 жыл бұрын
this is completely stitched, I don't think glue would hold anything long-term in an application like this but there are shoe soles and watch straps that are held together with glue only and they work pretty well!
