Breaking glass like that is a great way to end up slashing your wrist. Tap the cut with the handle of the glass cutter a bunch of times and it will crack right through. Leaning on it is a recipe for disaster, that sort of glass will go right through you. You can also use fine sandpaper instead of primer. Primer is really only needed if the join will be under load, wet or reactive environment.

Very cool project. I wish I watch this video back days when I was constructing my dirt nest for Messor. In my case it didn't end up so well, plants got dried and all the ants escaped🥲

So happy to see another video. You inspired me to get my own messor barbarus colony. I have had them couple months, they are in an acrylic nest with an outworld attached. They are many 20 workers and queen. Still not seeing much eggs or larvae but im hoping they are just kinda hibernating, they gather seeds and process the odd fly or meal worm. Do you think they will begin to grow in number when the weather heats up?? Much love from UK🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤✌🏻

great video m8!!! messor colonies always provide u with some annoying suprises xD my colony decided they cant climb tubes anymore so i had to put a little chain in there. a messor keeper has to be creative like u! i think the soil mix isnt a good fit for a mediteranian species. its too soily xD it works, but something more sandy and with more clay is much more natural :)) i wish u great luck with this colony and im curious for the next video ^-°

Thanks! Yea, well the soil mix is perhaps a bit too soily, buuut this sp. is also found in more moist forrest areas, plus, the whole Idea of the sand setup wis for it to be moist, they have the Ytong nest if they need it dryer :)

I'm from the UK and an electrician, lol, Cable Gland is correct and you will find it on google, but we usually call them 'Stuffing Glands'

Hej. Vad kul med en svensk myrkanal, även om den är på engelska 😆 Min son är mycket intresserad av myror och har många provrör med Lasius drottningar, några med arbetare. Han fick ett AntsCanada hybrid nest i julklapp men dit får någon koloni flytta när de blivit fler. Vi är sugna på att bygga ett terrarium liknande det här. Vad ger du myrorna för mat?

I was searching for tips on how to care for a Messor barbarus colony and I found your videos. My first ant colony (Myrmica Rubra) died due to food poisoning, at least that's what I think that happend. And now I'm looking for tips on how to care for a Messor Barbarus colony. Do you have any tips? For example: 1. Their diet. 2. How much humidity they need. 3. What's the best temperature for them. (I guess that they need between 20-30 °C) Etc. It would be really helpful, as I can't find a lot of information about them.

Try to go on websites that sell them. They have a care guide in the description. They also need space to store seeds

Ants Scandinavia „Pfusch“ is the german word for rushing something with negative consequences for the quality. This is a real problem when you build a house and you notice alot of „Pfusch am Bau“

Worse thing about Messor ant species is they love terraforming as you stated in the video. I hate that they do this because no matter what you do to make it look nice their nest and outworld they will cover everything with soil because they love to dig.

A heed of warning. Anyone that have Messor Strucor Ants, or planning on keeping Messor Structor Ants. They can chew through Ytong, plaster, sandstone, gypsum. 👍
