EDIT : Hi all, just letting you know that since posting this video we’ve decided to disassemble this miniature installation. The intent was always joy for the neighbourhood but we’ve heard some concern about if this would be safe in the long-run. Out of an abundance of caution it will be removed. Thanks for joining me on this miniature journey.
______
Recently I took on a project that I’ve been wanted to do for a while. It all started when I stumbled upon the perfect nook hidden in a city guardrail and decided to use it for my next miniature DIY challenge: transforming a mundane guardrail into a space-age atomic retro futuristic apartment (located on a spaceship of course).
I knew I had to be careful, after all, there was a fine line between creating something cute/fun and destruction of public property. But I literally could not help myself -it was like a burst of serotonin for my eyeballs. I have already dabbled in the world of miniature DIYs in the past, from a miniature mouse house in a hole that I found in my wall, to constructing a tree house hidden within a house plant, so I felt prepared to take on something a little bigger.

Kelsey: “I’m sorry, are you blessed with beautiful miniature art on your daily basis?” Well, yeah… Where I live (Leeuwarden, the Netherlands), there’s a local artist who creates miniature people, which he hides in at least 50 places in the city centre. All different miniature scenes. The walk to see all of them takes like three hours, so we’re literally blessed with beautiful miniature art on our daily basis ❤😌 how cool is that?

I feel like this needs to be said I just want to remind people that THIS IS A PIECE OF SAFETY EQUIPMENT and PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH on how this guardrail works before replicating anything you see here!!!! This is an MSKT guardrail terminal and relies on there being no obstructions to allow the railing to properly be crumpled and smoothly eject out of the way if someone were to have a head on collision into the terminal end with their car. While Kelsey seems to have kept the opening in the back clear, someone else trying to replicate this might not know and block it off while decorating a railing like this since this was never specified in the video. Altering safety equipment like this without knowing exactly what you are doing can turn a cute project into someone else’s death sentence. I LOVE these miniatures sprucing up boring areas but please be careful what you decorate!

I absolutely loved this idea, Kelsey!! It turned about absolutely adorable and all the simple ideas to replicate things from that time period were genius. I am also sad to hear that you removed the apartment.😭😭

Oh gosh so freaking awesome that is the perfect little creation for that empty metal corner that this fits perfectly with all of the cool miniature things you put in there, I really love this so much and I think that a lot of people are going to find it so awesome and will really love to stop and take a look at everything. Oh gosh Kelsey you did a fabulous job and so did all of your help getting this created. And it was so cool seeing Becky walking down the hill and then stopping to see this project. Thanks so much for sharing this great video and I wish you a wonderful rest of your week, sending love and hugs, bye! 🤣🥰🤗✌👍👋💜💜💜
