Here I am making a video of me converting a cheap Indian horn into something a bit nicer.

Could you soften the horn up by putting in boiling water prior to putting it in the vice? I don't have a spot where I can use a torch like that at the moment, a vise I have, just wondering if letting the horn soak in hot water would have the same effect.

I’ve only made two horns. This one was a cheap Indian made one that I wanted to make a bit better looking. The horn was very thick, probably 3/16 thick. I have my doubts it would have been shaped by hot water. The other horn I made I did with hot water on the kitchen stove. I shaped the end with a deactivated artillery shell. That horn was very thin and was very easy to shape. I got the bare horn from track of the wolf. On my to do list is order some more horns to play with in the shop. The next order I plan to make is from powder horns and more. I’ve heard people say good things and their website looks good to me. Kits and bare horns. I kind of want to play with making a two chamber pocket horn for local hunting
