Pro tip: use different grit sand paper to get a smooth finish and save all that putty work, start by low to high grit, I usually start with 220 and finish with 400 to 600. This helps with smoothing out that surface.

I absolutely agree on the homemade merch part!! I have tried to make some figures on my own and they came out absolutely terrifying but I just love them so much because the process of making them was so fun!! :)) I even liked them better being terrifying, it gave them character lmao

I stumbled upon this video on accident, but as someone who reads Detective Conan, I immediately recognized this figure of Amuro and laughed my ass off when you pointed out that his ass is too flat. I agree completely. This guy... doesn't have an ass... Though, a lot of people argue that he does. Like. Where? 😭 This custom figure was really cool, though! Reigen deserved a good figure and I love how you utilized this Amuro figure's pose with the jacket! (This character has 3 different names/alias, but "Amuro" is the one I'm used to calling him, lol.)

I am STILL thinking about this figure after seeing it on Instagram. Your hands are seriously so amazing??? It baffles me how much care and attention went into making a custom figure that ACTUALLY SLAYS. I thought art was tedious enough and now I've been introduced to the patience and repetition of figure sculpting. As another person who has a deep personal connection to this show and its characters, bless this video so much. I'm so glad you get to have something you're proud of just for you to keep! AND YOU MADE IT!! There are so many things I could say but basically: this is such a cool project. All the gratz for finishing it. Thank you for sharing with us!!

oh my gosh thank you so much for the kind words, I was smiling so much just reading your comment! it amazes me how one show can resonate with the lives of so many people but Im not shocked at all that mob psycho is a special anime for almost everyone who watched it. Despite all the memes around Reigen, He's actually a character I really love and Im glad I was able to do him some justice in this figure! :D

This is great, but I recommend using watered down Milliput to coverup any imperfections. Because it later slightly reactivates with water, if you use a wet fine sandpaper, it leaves a very smooth surface. It takes like 4 hours to cure though, and actually sculpting with Milliput is sort of a headache, so only use it to coverup rough sanded parts. Also, using sculptor's vaseline rather than water is a good idea when using two-part putty, as it stays way longer on the surface, just remember to clean up later when finished using soap.

I have used milliput before for a Frodo doll custom and i had a way to much trouble working with it, I can see why it would be better for filling in cracks because i did not like sculpting with it

This was a well made video, you have a real eye for design. I think a dremel tool might help you a lot bc watching you sculpt with an xacto was crazzzzy

Agree on the official Reigen figures as being stiff... and plain! I wish they could have added background elements on the stand itself like what Taito did to the 2021 Birthday Miku Happy Cat version or the Rem Idol version with all the balloons around her :(

happy to see more people doing custom stuff! I made a custom fig last year and it was SO HARD to find references for how to do stuff, i was on the garage kit reddit forums trying to learn everything i could to apply to what i was doing lol. But its so much fun to do!!

I was told this recently by my painting teacher, but she said that with acrylics you should just use paint thinner because water breaks down the paint and overtime the paint gets destroyed. I don't know since i usually paint on a canvas with really saturated brushes so i can't tell you that for sure, but it's been enough of a problem for previous students that she had to tell us
