Making a Scary Wobbly RC Car Go Way Faster Than It Should

With this Temu RC car Hummer possibly being a discontinued model (Nope, its back-for now!), we might as well have some fun with it. We did a brushless upgrade, gear ratio upgrade, suspension upgrade, tire upgrade, etc. Though it certainly seems quite durable, the flexibility of the suspension components (which is good for bashing), and the power-to-weight ratio definitely make this project a challenge. Especially once we shove 14.4 volts in it!

Yup showing the crashes, atleast some of them, is important for showing what it can handle. A lot of cars would have broken just from all those tumbles let alone the first tree impact! The 2996a is a great truck!!

Just in case you need any other 0.7 MOD pinions in the future, the Rlaarlo 17 and 27 tooth pinion gears are that size. 👍

Wltoys also use that same pitch but rlaarlo uses better metal, theres also a 19t as well, that's the one I use on most of my stuff with that pitch

I know! Was very gentle on the trigger at first as I worried about it. Yup definitely did not want to hit that tree. It was a good run so was trying not to turn to fast but wasn’t fast enough.

If you swapped the stock radio for the Dumbo then you likely will see more. I use the older X5 in a few RCs and there's always extra speed over the RTR radio 🤙🏼

@@lukedavis4213 absolutely! Seriously I felt like 2 more levels on punch higher, actually after todays run I blew my rear input gear lol. Already fixed it and I’ll decrease the punch 1 level tomorrow, gotta let the locktite to dry hahaha

@@DerbyCityRC are you using the gyro? I tried it on my MJX but it seems like it stressed the servo too much and stopped working before expected lol. Btw using the dumborc was so overpowered on 3S. My rear input gear ended up absolute toothless lol. Gotta get the punch lower maybe 1 or 2 levels, currently at lvl 4 on stock ESC.

It looks a lot like the Hosim X07. Except for where the motor mounts. I believe you have an X08, identical to the X07.

No it’s very different. I have both of those Hosim models. I also believe that if they were Hosim diffs and spur gears they would have shredded on the 3s tests lol Thanks for trying! 😃

@DerbyCityRC not currently. I love the 14th or smaller. Don't need much room for them. I did however recently reacquire my JLB Cheetah, But to be honest, I like my TA 14MT more than all my other trucks, including my Hyper Go.

Dude right! It’s just cheap stuff Home Depot sells for their metallic looking stick on wall tiles. I’ve used it before and it actually didn’t work that well lol Was surprised but there’s better out there lol

there's a spur and 6 pinion set for the hsp flying fish that's so cheap and comes with grub screws, good steel and mod 0.6. for mod 0.7 there's a seller that can make them to order for very cheap in pom, alloy, steel or copper, from 15 to 27t with whatever bore you want. btw can you reverse that motor mount?

I have an x08 and did an initial review on it last year here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pNt9ipNz18e3onk.htmlsi=0mRCqoyr4eSo7CeB Never upgraded it though. The main thing with these are someone weak differential gears. Very fun truck though and parts are cheap.

@williamfreeze3924 the only upgrades I would do on that would be better gears/differentials, but I don’t know if they’re available 😥 I haven’t seen any but it’s been a while since I’ve checked.

I hate to burst your bubble, but… the speedometer in a real car always reads a few mph slow because it keeps people from speeding so much… any gps whether on your phone or otherwise will show you 2-4 mph slower than your vehicle’s speedometer. So the little car didn’t actually hit 50mph. Great video tho! I love the little extras you put in to keep it entertaining.

Damn! Haha! You’re right on this. (Except for you meant to say they read a bit fast) However, it wasn’t necessarily that it was off on the actual speed, it was that there was a delay. When I accelerated, it took 3-4 seconds for the gps to catch up. When I got 42-43 on 3s. My clean 4s runs look a good bit faster to me so I’m still sticking with I think I got it. 🤣 I can dream! Anyway thanks man I’m glad you find the vids entertaining!
