Making a Pulaski axe by a skillful blacksmith and his co-worker. The process of making it is wonderful. They make it using only a few simple tools.
The axe has two edges and they are really sharp.

I can only imagine the judges from Forged in Fire reactions if they saw your quench technique. I have often found the interupted quench you use to make a better edge on the axes and heavy working tools I have made. Much respect for your skills.

Water quench cannot survive in forged in fire he is amazing artist it's very difficult work with that less tools he has got would be pleased if he does oil quench I am also a blacksmith and i use both oil and water quenching there is lot difference btwn both method

4140, or aircraft steel, is the best for axes. It's got comparable tensile strength to titanium alloy. 4140 is also used for grade 8 bolts.

Wow I thought he was gonna use the power hammer. That had to take awhile pounding it out by hand, great job!

ieat caribou you know his hammer is not good for making axes at all. He uses to make flat tools like swords, cleavers, ..... because the head can't be removed. It is homemade and I don't think it is made by an expert. however, it is very useful, he can work a lot when his Dejo is away.
