Creating a Swampy Game Board for my Dungeons and Dragons campaign.
This terrain piece was built for a fey wild one shot that will be taking place on @TomesandTalesRPG. But it could just as easily be used for any kind of Table Top Game from pathfinder to Warhammer.
If you're interested in seeing this board in action go check us out over at @TomesandTalesRPG for some heavy role play D&D action.

Dude, this turned out so sick. The flocking sinking to the bottom turned out awesome. Love that rice hack, too!

This looked like a lot of work but the end result was amazing! The water looks great. I would recommend mixing a little bit of black in with yellow ink for nice swampy green.

Thanks 😁 I definitely need to work on my colour theory for resin colouring. I never mix enough colour for the final result. And haha yer it was a fair bit of work, but I'm a little obsessed with having the most realistic set peices I can manage on my table. Sometimes I've gotta remember it's just for one game haha

I love the duckweed! I think it works great with the slightly-clearer water.

I just made my first piece using some of your tutorials! Built a massive dragon's lair and used several of your techniques. Had a ton of fun and it's just got me excited to try out more of your suggestions and techniques. Thanks for making this content!

Haha yer there is a sneaky hidden frog in there but the footage was blurry of him going in and he was lost to the resin pour. But there will be frogs in the scatter/islands that go ontop

Nice build in itself, but my eyes keep tripping over the frame, but that's just me. Perhaps a similar green mixed with greys, browns and a few drops of black to blend the frame in a bit more? Perhaps you might even consider adding some flocking to the inside of the frame, perhaps even on top. Just a few suggestions, never mind me 😊
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff 3 ай бұрын
I think it's a very good suggestion. The frame was a bit of an oversight and last minute paint job. But I agree, I definitely could have made it blend in a bit nicer. I only really even did it as a way to hold in the resin. But on future builds I'll be focusing more on the frame, because it does make a big difference in the end

U probably could of used ur green spray paint in the apox resin, I've seen it on stone coat apox. Sorry if I missed spelled epoxy

Interesting, never thought about mixing spray paint into resin before. I might have to test that out. I feel like it could make for some interesting effects depending on how well you mixed it in

I’m trying to replicate this for my first ever dnd build but I have no idea where to get the little scenery from like the Skelton and the shields etc

I would love to see that! Alot of that little stuff I have collected over a few years of making and painting minis, Any left over bits from sprues, and a good chunk of 3d printed tiny bits. I'll add the links to the 3d printed models into the description today if you have a 3d printer. Otherwise you can get a big box of skulls from games workshop for a decent price that will last you forever.

@@SebMakesStuff amazing thank you so much I’m going to check out games workshop and search for some spare parts, once I’ve finished the swamp I show you it going to add a few things into just got to source the resin from now any tips on the resin?

Can't wait to see it! I just got my resin from Amazon. Things to look for are key words like "deep pour" and "non yellowing" but I go for the cheapest stuff for can find usually haha

Great video! Can you provide the product name for the bright green clock you used on top of the water?
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff 2 ай бұрын
It's just a cheap flocking I got from a local hobby shop, I wish I had kept track of the actual product name. But it's basically just a small bright green foam flocking. I'll see if I can find any history of the actual brand, but I tend to lose the packaging for things pretty quickly haha
@billwumsen4108
@billwumsen4108 9 ай бұрын
i woud love to do that too, but it looks super expensive, to buy all that stuff, isnt it?
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff 9 ай бұрын
The only part that's a bit expensive is the resin for large pours. But the rest isn't too bad. And you can get around a lot of the expencive things with cheaper varieties. You could easily skip all the texture paints and just glue down some dirt and sand then give it a paint. PVA glue works as an alternative to mod podge. And you can get static grass, Tufts and flowers for pretty cheap on Amazon. I like to go a little bit extra with my builds, but you can definitely do something close to this for a lot cheaper if you cut a few corners

@@SebMakesStuff thanks a lot for the advice! 😃 Im always thinking about making everything perfect, at best, from the get go😅. So the first thing that came to my mind was: "thats amazing! i NEED all of this." But first, i better get started and get the expirience!😅
@SebMakesStuff
@SebMakesStuff 9 ай бұрын
Always happy to talk craft! Haha I feel that! The perfectionist takes over. But you definitely learn more on the ones that aren't perfect. Even this build taught me a lot that I'll do differently in the future. 1% better every build!
