This Mold (and Core) was created to produce a tight fitting "rubber glove" for an actor to wear, and give the illusion of a second skin on top of their real skin. The negative mold gives the surface details and skin textures of the hand, and the inner core creates an empty void in the mold that the rubber will eventually fill and produce the precise even thickness of the glove, that can then be pulled over the actors hand. This is how most glove type prosthetics are produced for film and TV productions.

What do you use to keep the two parts from sticking together when making the mold?

nice work, thanks for sharing!! May I know what kind of resin you used for the first layer ? I've been told resin can't work with humidity.

Nice video, looking forward for more! I'm wondering, why the pins on the sculpture, is it to keep the core from touching the inside of the mold ? Since there's no pouring/injection hole, is it going to be thickened silicone on both side then close the mold ? Thank you Jamie :)

Nice job Jamie, but I don't realized how you would fill the mold for create the glove. I had waiting exactly this procedure. You would use a vacuum pump, maybe? Anyway, thanks for sharing your beautful work.

Yeah, I only made the molds for this project. Others did the silicone work and I don't have any videos or photos of that unfortunately. I'm sure I'll make a video showing the sort of thing you're asking about though! Thanks for watching!

I'm a bit confused with this. If the finished prosthetic glove is to be identical to the hand it's worn over, what is the purpose of the prosthetic?

Good question. The actors hands had to be painted some strange colors, so it was felt prepainted pull on gloves would expedite the process.

@@jamiesalmonsculpture8599 I puzzled over that for a while then, almost as soon as I'd posted the question, I thought of several scenarios where that would be the way to do it. They all involved some kind of hideous injury... I mean mimicking the injury, not causing it of course.
